when i bought my bolt hd sold me the extended service plan. the cooling fan went out so i took the bike to hd paid the 50 bucks and 3 weeks of me calling and yelling at who ever i could i finally got my bike back. they "replaced" the upper and lower rocker gaskets on #1 and #2 (because they tend to leak and short out the fan) plus the fan. after some close inspection i noticed that #2 and the harness of wire behind #2 are covered in old and fresh oil ! needles to say hd's service department are closed sunday and monday so come tuesday there will be hell to pay at the hd in boise. thanks for reading and letting me ran.

That's why none of my vehicles will see a service department of any dealership. Overpriced and half assed work.

Also why I never buy an extended warranty.

Also found that yelling and ranting tends to get attitude and sloppy results.

Last time my bike was at the dealer, they somehow failed to notify me that it had been ready BEFORE the perfect long weekend. When I quietly told them that I was disappointed with that, they took $400 off the bill.

Whatever works for you.

I just took my XB9SX into High Desert HD and they blew me off all day Saturday. I called them 4 times to try and get my bike. Finally got my bike back just before they closed.

Good luck!

Even with 400 off they're still making money. It's rediculous the shop rates of places now. Problem is these dealerships don't make money selling bikes so they use the service department to make the money. Rediculous rates and they need returning customers to make their money. Unbelieveable how the mechanics can make 12-15 dollars an hour while the shop is charging 80-90 an hour for labor. Plus, book time is twice the actual time on any service.

I'll gladly service anyones bike for $40/hr, that's 1/2 of dealer shop rate. :D

Dealers do charge an arm and a leg and $80/hr does seem rediculious (because it is) but never underestimate the cost of running a buisiness. A friend of mine used to own a small shop and you would not believe the price of keeping that place open.
-Rent for the building is 2-3x what you would pay for a house of similar square footage
-electricity is about 2x as much per KW/Hr as residential rates, despite literally coming off of the same poles
-Natural Gas is 2x residential rates
-Insurance is not too pretty either, although not as bad as you might imagine.
-factor in that that guy making $15/hr probably cost the shop closer to 20-25/hr by the time you factor in benifits and misc. costs and it's not hard to see why they charge so much.
That's why I do ALL of my own work, from oil changes to full rebuilds. My rates are very reasonable and I know the quality of work is high, or at least I know who to blame if something isn't right. :D

i might suggest cooling it on the screaming, yelling, ranting thing. i feel how frustrated you are with the quality and timing of your repairs...or lack thereof. but owning a dealership i can tell you that raising hell with the service writer or service dept. counterman does not get your job performed any sooner or any better quality workmanship. it is quite the opposite. not trying to dictate what to do or how to act but courtesy and some kind words go a long way when dealing with these folks. IMHO.

$400 off is a lot of money to me. The original price was fair, high but fair. At the end of it, we were all happy.

Yes, I expect them to make money. What an odd concept to suggest they should not.

thanks guys just needed some help on how to get my shit delt with cause ive been in the auto trade proffesionaly and personaly for 8 years 3 of them on diesel tech and from what i know you cant work on a dirty motor. i also went over my bill summary ( witch was 631.12 parts and labor on 1 rocker box and fan)and they only did 1 upper and lower rocker box. again if your gonna take so much time to do something replace all you can when you can get to it. thanks to everyone for givin me go info to cool my jets you get more flies with honey than vinegar so i geuss when i go in tomorrow ill just be chill and ask why when my motor was open #2 is still dirty and why they only did 1 rocker box.:D

Hope all went well. Just wanted you to know you're not the only one frustrated with High Desert. A few years ago they had my bike for over a month getting some "repairs." First they charged me almost $300 to create my estimate after I told them I only wanted the mechanical stuff fixed, not cosmetic. Needless to say my frame and all the plastics were in the estimate to be replaced due to a few minor scratches. This should have been a red flag for me. So they went on to unneccessarily replace the oil cooler (which I had to pay for) Basically I had to call them every week or else they would've had my bike all winter. I guess I was kind of a noob back then and it was probably pretty easy for them to take advantage of me. Thanks to this forum though safe to say that's changed. Sounds like you got your shit together so you should be good to go. Have to warn you though playing it cool doesn't always work (at least it didn't for me) because I calmly suggested they erase the cost of the "estimate" and I think they ended up dropping like $50. So I still had to pay over $200 for someone to point out the scratches on my plastics/frame. Hope you had better luck!

but never underestimate the cost of running a buisiness.
Its a F#%^ing joke what a person has to pay in taxes insurance benefits to be self empl..So I do under stand why they charge so much, but for that price I expect them to kiss my ASS and make things right.(WE KEEP THEN IN BUSINESS)[mad]

but for that price I expect them to kiss my ASS and make things right.(WE KEEP THEN IN BUSINESS)

that was my prob. some lill fuck named colin lyed to me over the phone and told me 3 separate occasions my bike would be ready so i finally walked in and told him to lye to my face then i got my bike back. today did not go so well the nice guy thing did not do well so friday when i have more time im gonna drop the hammer. and im gonna get the owner and ask him what name is on the side of the building and what he is gonna do to make this right( found the 2 t27's that hold the chin piece on are missing wonder how the hell that happened)

Dude sorry so many problems.I'm new here took my CR in for a recall and took like 4 weeks of calling to get them to order the parts. It was a joke...........We all need to open a buell dealer ship !!!!
