I have noticed that the belt goes to the outside and you can see where it runs on stuff. I flipped the belt around thinking it was on wrong but I put it back together n went right back. Any ideas?

Is it tracking off of the rear gear? The front is lipped so it wont come off from the front.

Yeah. Sorry my terminology is off but I was reading that when this happens it's because the belt is on wrong but I'm guessing that's not the reason for this.

Have you removed or adjusted the Idler Pulley or changed the rear tire or anything lately? The Idler pulley was off on mine a little and resulted in the belt tracking to the outside of the rear pulley after having a local bike shop install a new tire on the rear. Snapped the belt a week later. When I re-assembled the idler assy I didn't get it just right and the belt was tracking. Removed and re-installed idler assy and it's a happy world. If you have a stand for the rear, put it up on it and grasp wheel top and bottom and see if you have any play. Could be a precursor to wheel bearing failure also. Keep us posted.

It rides flush with inside pulley n rides to the outside of the back one. Is this like a normal thing that happens and is it harmful?

My belt tracks to the outside of the pulley by about 1/8"-3/16". Been like that since I got the bike 20k miles ago. Track day and many drag strip days, not a problem.

Still on the subject,

When I replaced my rear tire last I noticed that the sprocket/pulley wasn't actually manufactured perfectly and there was a couple weld drops that were coated over towards the inside in-between the teeth.

Anyone ever notice if that can potentially cause premature wear or failure of the belt?
