Race exhaust Hi, I managed to buy the original factory exhaust on Buell XB, the sound is excellent and I'm excited, price for which I bought it was the 100 USD :), but I want to ask for what material is the exhaust? I can polish it - stainless steel, or I paint it? Thanks Martin

Never really looked to see, but I assume it is stainless, not aluminum for sure and I highly doubt it is just a stamped steel.

Here is a stocker next to a polished pipe

This is mine which has been chopped down about 8" and then Ceramic coated. I tried the powder coat the first time around and it peeled off due to the heat, but a high temp paint would probably work well, I opted for the ceramic coating since it is good to 2,000 degrees, and it cost me $40 which painting it would have cost me about $25 plus my time to prep and spray, so $40 was a great deal.

I have a stock 2010 XB1200 and would like to install the K&N air filter and am looking for a good (loud) sounding exhaust. Where did you find this deal?

Any other suggestions or what to avoid? How about D&D?

To Apexlocator

I have D&D on my xb9s. It's obnoxiously loud. It will make car alarms go off and will turn everybody's heads especially at WOT. It's just like a scream from a horror movie. And I love it!

But with D&D it is highly recommended to dyno tune it. I had it without a tune for a while and it was working ok except bike was too hot and a lot of popping at deceleration.

Thank you all for your advice. For the Magic - I have recorded ECM race maps, the engine is ok. Thanks Martin

Poppinsexz: If a coating is aluminum, I'll have to grind and paint as Xtremelow ... and yet I'll see what happens in a few months - if the rust - varnished exhaust. Thanks gentlemen

You can get some wheel polish and clean it up real nice. I've had 2 of them. one was the early model that was more brushed looking. My later one polished up real nice(like chrome).

I'll try to polish it, the picture of polished /Xtremelow/ is really wonderful. Thanks

I know that in one hundred U.S. dollars a super price, it was a coincidence that he was selling the crash Buell Buellrider but a businessman and did not know that the exhaust is a rarity ... I have a race exhaust happy :D
