Hey Guys,

I recently got a Hawk Pipe, K&N and a ECM cable. I got it all working with a lot of help from the the forum! I was curious about the idle on the race map. In 1st it idles normal ~1050rpm but in 2nd, 3rd, etc it idles high ~2000rpm.. Is this just an effect of race mapping and intentional or is there something funky going on?

Thanks
-Chris

How are you idling in gear? It should only idle in N.

Or are you saying if you hold the clutch in and change gears(without actually engaging the clutch) the idle fluctuates?

The second, When I hold the clutch to change gears, I noticed when down shifting to come to a stop. It remains at a higher RPM with race map than with stock.

Ok, I was just checking to see if any of the guys running race mapping had noticed. I'll do another TPS reset today and see if that sorts things out.

also might check the cleanliness of ur throttle body the next time u have ur airbox off. A little gunk in there on the throttle plate or where it rests could cause a hanging idle, which might just be alil more noticeable with ur new map... its somethin to check out neway.

if your tps calibration(zero) is off a little it can cause it to hang. also you could try bumping that idle down a touch to see if that helps. make sure to re zero the tps when the engine is warmed up.

I did the TPS reset once but must have fouled it up.. I redid it and it all seems to be in order now!

I would do a tps reset and tune the bike. The race map doesn't really fit the hawk pipe perfectly.

I'd like to custom tune it, I'm not sure where to start. I'll look into it in the summer when I have the free time I suppose.

Interesting...my idle actually dropped about 100 RPM's after i burned the race maps...the richer fuel maps made my bike idle right around 900-950 even after a tps reset and set to 4.8 Deg and 5.5%...i run it a tad higher like 5.2 deg and 6.3% for it to idle right around 1050 RPM. I have a D&D exhaust, K&N air filter w/ open air box, and breather mod. My AFV is between 99%-104% depending on climate and if I run race gas or premium unleaded. If it starts giving you fits again It might help to do a TPS reset and reset the AFV to 100% the go for a leisurely ride to allow the ecm to adjust. if that doesn't, a hanging idle can indicate an air leak in the intake somewhere...the idle circuit is pretty rich whether you run the stock ecm or the race maps.
