Racing ECM 2009 Buell XB12R pricing

Bought second 2009 xb12r with after market exhaust-single can/two outlets. Power seems to plateau at around 3000rpm. Over the phone, the Harley man says I need a racing ECM for a mere $700!!! Holy Crap-o-lio bat man! Is there any way around that price? Maybe I already have a racing ECM that needs reprogramming-I'll check, but Dang, is there anything less$$??

You can buy one direct from EBR for half that.

I fly jets for a living but do not know where to find the ECM on this bike. I am, however literate and suppose I can figure it out but can you give me a quick shortcut to locating the ECM and then a way to determine whether it is a racing ECM?
