Rear brake is weak!

Have an 09 Uly and the rear brake sucks.Any one else notice this?Any solutions? Could a different pad help?

I havent really noticed a problem with a weak rear brake. On my 07 12S, I can lock up the rear under hard braking.

Have you checked to make sure there isn't air in your brake line? Or that it's up to spec in terms of brake fluid volume?

some guys will do the hidden caliper and switch it over to a brembo rear caliper. I've also seen where people change the rear master cylinder as well.

My back brake kinda sucks. It's a 2003 9S. It'll lock up the rear if I really press on it but it has absolutely no feel to it. It's like stepping on a brick. Maybe when I change the fluid over winter it'll help.

People swear by that brembo set up. Bigger master should make it more ppowerfull. Steel/ braided lines increase feel and eliminate "fade". This is all hear say but these are on my list of winter projects.

Stock rear brake is kinda weak on every XB. You gotta really stomp on it to lock the rear wheel. Which my opinion is good cause you won't lock it by accident. All you gotta do is try few times and feel how much pressure gives you best results.

Yeah it's not really an issue of how strong my brake is, it's just the fact that it has no feel to it. There are worse things in the world though. It's just sad when the rear brake on my wife's GS500 puts my back brake to shame.

My wife owns a gs500 as well. Its a suprisingly fun bike even though it is underpowered.

Yeah I rode it for a few months after I sold my last bike and was looking for a Buell. You have to rev the hell out of it just to get it to move, and you still get toasted by old people at red lights, but the handling is incredibly light so it's fun to toss around town.

Thx for the info.I can`t lock up the brake.N matter how hard I stomp.I checked brake fluid and I am good there so maybe I need to go with bigger master cylinder.

Have not had a problem with my rear brake,it can lock up on my 2007 firebolt when pressed too hard,front brake has started to do like some others I have read about on here,it wants to get wobbly at 55 mph,will do a mod on it soon with new pads and rotor.

I have an 08 XT never have been able to lock the rear, the front I can with two fingers. I think it's just a trait of the design.
