My brake light is not illuminating when I press the brake pedal. I shorted the leads going to the tail light where the brake light switch connects and the tail light comes on, so I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the switch.

When I bled my brakes, the fluid was in terrible shape after sitting for a decade. It was gelantinous in spots. I'm suspicious that something "sticky" found its way into the switch.

It looks like i probably need to drain the brake fluid to clean or replace this switch, is that correct?

Does anyone know the specs or a suitable replacement for the 2 copper crush washers that surround the banjo fitting? Forum search suggests 10mm ID. Does outer diameter matter all that much? Looking on amazon I see 14mm and 16mm O.D. Should I care?

Thanks

Just get a new switch. I have had no luck making the bad ones work for any length of time after cleaning:(

If you can crimp or solder, it doesn't need to be Buell specific. Just put the Buell connector on the end, sorry I forgot what exactly it is and Buell used a myriad of different suppliers for them.
If you're going to use new copper washers the whole kit of 200 from Harbor Freight costs as much as 2 delivered to your door, no the OD doesn't matter, but the thin ones are the ones in it now.

Correct, do not drain the system. Be sure not to push the pedal down with the switch out though, haha. 'YouTube Master Techs' like to say you need thread sealer on the threads, you do not.

Swap the switch in a speedy but not frantic timeline, do NOT over-torque!, bleed and done. EZ-PZ.
