Small Island in Puget Sound, WA
-Own two XB12STT's
-70 years old
-29-Inch inseam
-Plan on riding another decade or two
-Not a racer and no longer very aggressive

Have no issues with seat height now but would like to lower one of the bikes a little anticipating possible future needs.

--How practical is it to install an SCG Shock Assembly on an STT?
--Will handling be greatly affected?
--If needed can shorter springs be installed in the stock TT's forks?

Looking forward to your responses. After recovering from minor surgery later this month, plan on burning up the roads. Except for this possible upgrade all three bikes are ready to roll.

Any good suspension specialist can modify your stock suspension to suit your needs. RaceTech, Durelle, Traxxion Dynamics to name a few.

Hey mmcn49: What small island? I recently moved back to Maryland from San Juan Island, up near Roche Harbor.
I'm new to Buells and the XB forum. I'm really happy with the support here.

SCG shock may be too short. 2006 SS shock may be about right. Review the model specs. i believe the difference in ground clearance will provide the best estimate of how much lower your seat will be. You could also slide the forks up in the triple clamps (once you take the rings off that butt up against the triple claimps).

Or just cut down your seat or replace it with a lower profile.

BTW, pretty sure an SCG shock won't fit. You need one from another long swingarm/large frame model: XB12X, XT, SS or ST.

It will fit, I installed a SCG shock on my 06 Uly. Lowered the front and cut kick stand.
