Hey guys,

I posted another thread referring to a rear bearing on my 2003 Xb9r being broke.

Now I'm wanting to take off the rear wheel but HOW!?!?

This is the first bike I've ever owned with the actual muffler directly underneath the bike.

I've done research and seen stem jacks and even people making wooden cradles to use with floor jacks, but I was wondering if there is an easier way to take off the rear wheel for a quick fix without spending a ton of time and money.

I've thought about using an engine hoist or something but I just need some help on outside the box thinking.

Anybody rigged something up or found a quick and easy solution?

thanks- Jason

2x4's did it for me. looked like this

X's are swing arm. Was able to lift back end on top of the 2x4's by myself. Got it about an inch off the ground

(Could not edit it to make it straight, but the right side shouldnt be cocked over like that, obviously.)

Be creative or go spend $40 on a swingarm lift/stand.. I bought one and i am getting ready to take my rear wheel off for the first time too. i would think if you got a couple 4 by 4's and cut them into 6 peices you could stack them 3 to 4 high on both sides and set the swingarm on them to remove the wheel, kinda like what Macbuell said but more stable then 2 by 4's. You will need help lifting the bike onto them.
