I just bought a 04 XB12S with 2000 miles on it. It has a Latus pipe and a K&N filter otherwise stock. I asked the previous owner if he changed the ECU or had it remapped and he did not do either. The exhaust pipes are discolored from the head to about halfway to the collector. I suspect it may be from the bike running lean/hot. The guy put 900 miles on the bike since the Latus/K&N were installed. Since I am new to Buells, what is the consensus, Race ECU or remap the stock one? I live in Fairfax, VA, if I need to remap, any suggestions of where I can have it done?

I've read the posts about ECMspy and the cable that will allow you to DIY. Any members in the Northern Virginia/DC Metro area who have done the remapping or know where to go to get it done and could help a newbie out?

i could probably help you get started, but im on the wrong coast.

ha. you could do it via email if you have your own laptop and cable.

but it takes a long time that way. best bet is try your hand at it on your own. youll learn a lot that way.
