Removing handlebar End caps

I just purchased some bar end mirrors and they require me to remove the end caps on the handlebars. Could anyone give some insight on how to remove the end caps? Thanks

Vise grips...channel locks...pliers. ( this may chew them up pretty bad, at least I did on mine) But you arent reusing them so who cares
