Anyone have any tips on an easy way to replace the speed sensor on an xb12ss? The instructions in the service manual are pretty lacking, I removed the sprocket cover and identified the speed sensor, but it doesn't look like it's easy to get to...hoping someone has a good trick to get that thing out of there without too much trouble?

Well, when I changed mine on my Firebolt I had a bit of trouble getting it out. But that's because I was being too careful with it. It has, IIRC, an o-ring to keep it sealed. That o-ring is keeping it in place. Grab the end of it with pliers and carefully but strongly yank the bastage out.

Thanks...going to see if I can get it off this evening. It looks like the wires lead off to a couple different spots, are those ends hard to get to, too?

I'm only experienced with my Firebolt, and since no one else has responded yet...

Does it look like this?

Yeah it does...I'm going to try and tear into mine tonight, see if I can tell what is going where...

It shouldn't be too hard at all, remove the one bolt holding it and wiggle while pulling upward, like 00 said, there is an o-ring that is either going to let it come right out or feel like you need a gear puller to get it out, patience and a little determination and she'll be out. Trace the wire harness back to the plug and unplug the old/plug in the new, push the new one back in through the hole in the block, tighten down the bolt (not too tight, the housing is plastic), and you'll be good to go!!
