I started the mod today and went to my auto parts store and picked up all required parts except the breather filter. They were out of stock.

What is the purpose of the filter?

I have the hose ran back toward the swingarm and plan on installing a plug on the end of it for draining.

Will it work without the breather filter?

Do I have to plug the holes in the bottom of the air box where the original hoses came from?

Here are a few pics of where I am installing the hose.

Yeah I never took the time to read the rest of the 3 pages. I was excited about trying the mod....It is now pissing down rain and I found all the answers i was looking for.
Since I haven't got the filter yet I will leave the end open. When I get the filter I will cut the hose and install mine where Fidosol has his. Then I will put an end cap on the hose.

Hey tin, a word of advice, if you use a filter instead of a catch can you may find that the part of your leg that usually sits over where I have my filter when you ride gets damp/moist/wet. I almost always ride in my uniform so I don't care, doesn't stain, just something I noticed is all.

Thanks for the heads up. I may think of changing the location then. I also have a vid going up on you tube about the installation. It may help guys who want to do this mod in the future.

Well I keep up with the posts as best as I can, I am flattered that you would consider my mounting location though. So in response to that I'll tell you this. Somewhere on here there is a post that shows a heat shield that goes right in the opening where I keep my filter. Maybe that would solve the problem. Just food for thought is all.
