i installed a K & N filter and have been having some issues:
-more backfiring when getting off the throttle
-some surging at 4k RPM

i'm wondering if it is related to the ECM not understanding that the k&N is there.......do you guys reset it when making a small change like this? how do I do it? just unplug the negative?

to reset your ecm you need to go to a dealer, get direct-link or ecmspy.

after this, you need to do a learn-in period.

So I want to put a new exhaust and a high flow air filter. Do you reccomend K&N over the buell race air filter? Also I have the '08 Firebolt so there is no race ecm and no maps for my ecm yet, do you think I should take it to the dyno after adding those and have them try and make/find one or just reset the tps and wait till they come out with new maps for my ECM? or do you think it'll run too lean? Iv heard you need to keep the K&N oiled and that the buell race filter doesnt need that, any input. Thanks for all the help:)

your choice...
the race muffler you have to change, the k&n kan be cleaned & re-oiled.

who says there are no maps for the '08 [confused]

- dyno & remap preffered
- reset will adjust your fuel within the boundries of the stock map => lean, since the bike already runs lean from factory (environmental laws)

no problem...

My "OLD" service guy. He actually asked me If I could find them and bring them in to him...Thought thats what I payed him for....
