I had the regulator fail on my 06 Ulysses. While looking for options I ran across the Hot Shot mosfet from Rick's Motorsports. I did some looking around but didn't find much about them so i'm putting this on to help others that might be interested in this product. I found the description on Rick,s web page unclear it states "Customers will have to relocate the mounting position for this piece It will not mount in the same spot as the OE piece". What the reality is you need to make an adapter plate between the original mounting studs and the new Hot Shot regulator. The Hot Shot regulator will fit in the same spot as the original regulator. I attached some pictures for the adapter plate I made, the Hot Shot regulator and the final installation. Put about 200 miles since the install the regulator runs way cooler than the original, voltage is 14.5 from idle to 2500 rpm and 14.6 over 2500 rpm. So far i'm happy with this product. If making a good adapter bracket is within your skill set It is a good option. If adapter brackets aren't your thing I would look elsewhere. PXL_20240622_180218372.jpgPXL_20240624_200448110.jpg

That is exquisite workmanship on your part for that adapter plate. Rick's products the absolute finest out there.
 
Thanks John, my wife says I like working on my motorcycles more than riding them so the Ulysses is a good fit for me. I've enjoyed the process of taking it from sad and neglected to a well sorted and nice motorcycle. The connectors are correct and plug in to the factory wire harness. The wires from the regulator to the connection point under the pulley cover are the correct length also and fit nicely on the original routing position. I removed the factory wire loom tubing and installed it on the new regulator, it's a nice product if the install is in your sand box.

My pleasure Dave and couldn't agree more. Something extremely satisfying about turning an abused and neglected bike into a nice reliable machine. You getting any good rides in this summer up there on PA RT6 or similar? Brutal heat down here so nobody riding anywhere.

Dave----you should post Rick's part # for that VR. Handy to have it listed here for reference.
 
We've had a few weeks of brutal heat here also. Been doing shorter rides usually in the morning staying closer to home. We were down in God's Country this spring for a dual sport ride. My Wife and I are planning to take the road bikes down late July early August for a week. Hopefully it cools down some so you folks can get some riding in.

Good point on the part number.
