Hello All & Happy New Year.
Curious to know what type of winter wear people are wearing and the brands....Vegas is bloody freezing right now and can't decide what would be the better outter gear to buy. Any preferences out there... want to get something that will protect not from just the cold and wind but if i should hit the deck and slide....saw the pics from Buellpartsguy (i think it was him) that slid doing 60...hope you're getting better.
Anyways, any info or help will be greatfully received.

I wear only Icon gear. Winter or summer. All of the line is more relaxed and street fit than A-Stars and all the others that are more race/tight fitted.

Yeah that was me that slid. I am walking almost normal now and the pain is pretty much gone. Back on a bike again....

I also wear Icon although i generally wear a sweatshirt under the jacket (yes even with the liner) and thermals under my jeans because I'm too cheap to buy pants. My boots are actually a really good pair of 9” gore-tex Bates assault boots with the vibram outsole. You gotta think about non-slip on those oily/watery/othery roads, especially at lights. The boots are also wind and waterproof (gore tex) and they do breathe well. Socks are very important too so splurge on something that's merino wool like Smartwool. They aren't itchy and are machine washable (no, I don't work for them). For your neck get some sort of windproof balaclava, they'll have them at your local cycle shop. I also just installed a Foggy mask in my helmet and it's as good as they say. I have Olympia gloves but unless it's 30 or below, I just wear my alpinestar gauntlets because when I crash...they will do a much better job and they allow me to feel my controls better than the thick winter gloves. Keep that in mind too in fact, ask your local shop if they'll let you take gloves outside to see what they're like on your controls.

I'd say just that layering really does help but make sure that you layer loosely. If it seems like I wear a lot, I do. Body fat is a natural insulator and mine went home for the holidays. ;) There you have my two bits, hopefully it wasn't too much. Oh and I won't call you a wimp if you buy a heated suit...until I know you better. Mwahaha.
