Right Side Heat

I've got a 2008 xb9sx and it gets pretty hot on the right side gas tank and by the rear brake pedal. Is this normal?

Isnt your header right there on that side?

It comes with the territory, you have a air cooled bike.

Wrapping that header will help greatly.

You can also pick up header wrap from your local hotrod shop. This seems to help a bit. Heat shield under your seat keeps the ass a little cooler too. just curious, does your fan run all the time? Or a lot while your riding?

It doesn't run while i'm riding it down the road. But when I shut it off, it runs for about 5-10 minutes every time and my right leg is pretty red from the heat on the frame lol

Mine runs pretty hot also but I think as long as the fan isn't running all the time then it's just a nature of the beast kinda thing. The Header wrap does really help though. Also running a higher octane fuel can let it run a degree cooler. If it's running lean it can get hot also. I'm trying to figure why it gets hot enough to red your foot/leg. Mine gets hot but just uncomfortable sometimes, not to cooking myself.

He is either pressing his leg against the frame/tank too much or his bike has some issues.

When i wear pants, my leg is fine and doesn't feel like it's cooking. But with shorts, it gets red hot. And yeah, i don't ride in shorts much... I think my bike's fine because i don't notice the heat with pants on.

Yeah if that engine wasn't running then your leg would be fine.

Think of it as a safety feature. It stops ________ from riding in shorts.
