after riding for about 5 to 10 minutes, when i am going, and i pull the clutch in to shift the rpm engine speed takes a while to ramp down. it won't get down to about 1500 until after i release the clutch. if i am at a stand still and just rev the engine, rpm's climb to 4000, and then will go very slowly back down to 1200, almost lingering at 2000 for a bit. any ideas? is this normal, or do i need to adjust something?

Look to make sure the throttle cables aren't crimped or try some cable lube. All I could think of.

Maybe its time to replace your piston return springs? lol ok that was a joke. First, 1200 is on the high side for idle. What happens when you twist the throttle from open to the closed position kinda fast? Does it rev down with the grip?

Does it seem warmer than usual?

14 people are probably going to recommend a TPS reset. I don't see how it could be effecting it, but who knows

and still it helps...
like every measuring/sensing system, calibration is needed every once and a while to ensure effective and correct working.
if the calibration is off, 'hanging' of the throttle is a possible consequence. ;)

Mine had this "lingering" effect until I adjusted the idle to around 1050rpm. Sure sounds like a simple lowering of the idle rpm would help. Make sure the bike is fully warmed when adjusting idle as well. Then look to a TPS reset via dealer or ECMSpy.

yup, its just an idle set too high like Steven says. [up]

when it starts to do it again when bike is at full operating temp, adjust the idle down in VERY SMALL increments until you rev and it falls to ~1050RPM.

problem solved :D (the '2K hang' is a common thing)
