Searched forum/need help/lightning tail list...

Hi All

I've been lurking for a while, had a sportster in a hard tail and rode it everywhere but recently swapped it for a '69 xlch (getting a few things done) and suddenly without a bike and ... always loved the look of the buells and one is available for the right price AND i've sourced the rails from a xbs to fire/light it... but after a long search i'm still not completely sure what i need to buy to make the swap? Most threads seem to go the other way S-R or just say "it's easy 1 hr tops" make sure you got everything, watch out for the reservoir... found one that does a list but not sure exactly from that (never owned a buell) what else i need to make sure i have.

What i've figured out...

Lightning rails (both sides) - yes
Reservoir - yes
Tail chop - yes
SCG seat (prefer this route as folks say it really holds you in) - yes
the cheese grater??? -- this is where i'm a little lost???
the mounting inside the subframe for batt etc???
anything else?? wiring harness?? -- i'm not gonna rewire or move ECM just checking tho???

Sorry if this has been round the block and some but if anyone has a moment to offer advice i'd be super appreciative ...

Hi Chris,

No i'm looking to do similar to the firebolt front / lightning tail like here http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-For...ityX-XB12Scg/Firebolt-to-Lightning-conversion but not the full conversion. I like the front fairing of the Bolt ... and the tail of the Lightning ... i know it's not the taste of everyone tho.

I've got a buddy who could probably fab up a try etc for the tail pan but if i can just get the right stuff first up it might make it easier. Bike is not far so still gotta check it out looks/seems clean tho, low mileage, 1st owner etc

you have two seat choices, the low P/N: M0076.1AD or standard P/N: M0090.1AD, they both look alike

cheese grater is the center tail section piece that holds the license plate/brake light assy which bolts to the side rails(tail sections)...that part number is M0613.1AD, between the rails is the battery pan P/N: L0076.1AD

you'll need the seat latch assy also...check pinwall cycles on evilbay, they have several listed for cheap, may have to get keys made for the lock, may get lucky and find one listed there as well with keys, the lock assy that is...

there is a thread covering the R to S tail section conversion on the forum, the search function does suck, go to google search and type in "R to S tail swap" , better look here http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/214346.html?1153282365 to start with then continue with google search, it will be the first thing that comes up
