Hi, just bought a my first buell couple days ago. haven't ridden much cuz of weather and recent case of Pneumonia!!!!! but been look'n around for a different seat. found a streetfighter seat and a buell low seat.... what's the difference!? i definitly want something lower for sure, but they both look the same to me!? anybody got side by side pics!? or side pics either way!? any help appreciated! oooooo wait also... i did get a chance to fire it up and take her up and down the street once. and i noticed there is little to no play in the rear brake pedal... so there's virtually no rear brakes. this can't be typical can it!? it's a two owner 7k mile bike. possibly the pads be worn already!? thanks for the help!!!

Miller;
You need to be a little more specific on the bike, model? (edit: ok, im dumb. Should have read what forum you posted in.)

As far as the rear brakes, they are extremely weak on the Buells. You have you stand on it pretty hard to get them to do much. I don't know that I have ever locked mine up...

(and let me be the first to welcome you to Buell.) [up] awesome choice.

when riding by myself, I have no complaints with my rear. I'm so light that it stops me fine.

thanks guys. sorry bout not adding info. it's a 2003 xb9s 7k original miles. ya it definitly seems like u gotta give her a heel stomp to get the brakes to kick in. thanks for the welcome... seems to be a pretty legit forum!

I to have an 03 xb9s and find the rear brake a little on the light side... Ya really got stomp on it to get it to do anything.. But look on the bright side it makes it much harder to lock up.

I have the streetfighter seat on my 04xb12. It looks way better than the stock, but really does not sit any different than the stock. The "low" seat does sit about an inch lower than the stock.
I feel that the rear brake is pretty weak as well. The real braking is done with the front, so I don't see it as an issue. Welcome to the forum

Welcome to the Forum Miller. The Low seat isn't quite as comfortable as the Streetfighter, but if you won't more of your feet on the pavement, it is an option. Either way, congrats on your purchase and Welcome to your new Addiction. :D[up]

Thanks everyone for the help. Mucho appreciated! I'll have to get pics up of mine. it's got about the ugliest "custom paint job" i've ever seen in my life. but anywho on the the real stuff. how do u get rid of the god-awful ugly rear taillight/liscense plate holder/cheese grater thingy!? Also been look'n for some Bar end mirrors... noticed alot of ppl just snatch a "universal" set off ebay!?... and to Stevenc150... you nailed it on the dot with addiction!

Hey Miller, search the DIY threads for cheese grater eliminator, you can cut it yourself or order one offline. Mirrors I would recommend the ones from the Moto-Delux ebay store, or Oberon's as I have the first and the latter I have yet to hear a complaint about.

As far as the seat goes, I wanted a lower seat at first, by the time I could afford one I had just learned to shift my ass over a little bit to get my left foot on the ground when I have to stop at a light, leave it in first, that way I can cover both brakes if I need them, also I got instant get-up-and-go if some asshole 'doesn't' see me as he pulls up to the light behind me because I'm already in gear. Hope that helps.

thanks guys. well i fingered out i got the "low" seat. so i'm golden with that. bout to order some Bar-end mirrors. cheese grator thing taken care of this weekend. now i've been read'n around on this forum for about oooooo 3 hours now. i keep seeing this beautiful black buell... i believed owned by "typeone" he has a gas mask on for his headlights and i seriously got a chub every time i looked at it. says it's a "British Avon". which i've been searching to buy on for awhile now. anybody else done this mod!? gots any help!? thanks again

Ebay. Seems there's always an Avon mask on sell there.

typeone said he had to trim the eyes of the mask to make it fit right, but you seem like a DIY kinda guy, so post up pics as you progressively upgrade your bike.
