Can anyone tell me what is an acceptable amount of metal shavings on the 2 magnetic drain plugs? It's 2006 XB12R,3000 miles and this was the third oil change. What I found was enough metal to cover my thumb nail on each magnet. This is more than I'm comfortable with.

What kinda oil do you use and do you take short rides alot and how long do you take to warm the bike up. Im not sure if its a big deal but I had very little by my 3rd change on my 06'. I would be concerned if it was gritty or had some big chunk.

No chunks its real fine, I just switched from standard Harley 20w50 to Redline syn. 20w50 today. I let it warm-up while I gear up and my average ride is 30 miles at A time.

Sounds like its ok just check it at next oil change, as long as its real fine like dust and no sizable chunks. Just use a good oil filter.
