Short tail and rain

Hey people!

I've got a SoC short tail kit lying at home ready to be installed. But with the winter season comes rain, lots of it since I'm in rain-country deluxe Belgium, and I notice that even with the cheesegrater still on the bike, my backpack and vest get nice wet/mud striping.

So I wonder if I should hold off on putting on the short tail until next year as I can imagine it gets worse?

J.

I know I get soppin wet without the grator on my bike. Even in a light rain. I think someone makes a bigger rear fender that might help.

I personally try to avoid rain whenever possible, but can tell you that: chopped tail + rain = wet a$$ crack!!:p

I was caught in a light rain once and it was annoying how the water was directed to "that area." From reading on here, it sounds like the cheese grater helps a bit, but not too much...

I can only imagine what it is like without the cheese grator. I have only been in a slight amount of rain with my 12Ss and I get soaked with all guardds in place.

either way you'll get wet in the rain, but do what u think is best, its only cosmetic mod anyhow.

i hate it when u just washed her a day ago, u get stuck in the rain, ands she's all dirty again. [sad]

Heh. I get a nice stripe up my back and whether it's wet or not I often get hit with gravel/pebbles in the helmet and back. Not hard but enough to know that it's happening. Usually end up clearing some stones out from under that grab strap on my Ss.

After experiencing the same thing, I got two words for you. Firebolt tail conversion!

I cut a piece of black plastic out the same size as the cheese grater and fitted it underneath with 2 small dome bolts....makes a diffrence..not alot but in small down pours just enough..

If your riding in the rain your going to get wet.. Sorry but it happens:).. Put the shot tail on the bike looks better[up]

Someone should come up with a slide out plastic thing that fits where the one close to the rear tire fits. On sunny days it would have roughly the size of the stock one, on rainy days you would slide it out and keep the ass dry. [up]

I cut my cheese grater off and added the lift kit so whenever the back wheel sticks out further than the end of the seat wet butt/back happens.
Oh well the price you pay to look good.
