Well it's December, I was bored around the house, and I had this muffler from a Ulysses laying around.

Disection
Normally I sell off extra parts. But this looked like it had sit in water. I wasn't sure what it would look like inside.
So I dissected it by cutting along the welds. The partitions aren't welded to the skin. So I pulled the metal apart to expose the inside.

Remove the Internals
I went ahead and cut off around the end cap. The internals slid out from there.
I then cut out the actuator.

Surgery
I cut the internal pipes off at 1" past the first partition. Then I cut along the welds to separate the end cap from the internals. These parts will make up the end of the exhaust.
Note: I also cut off the pipes to 1" on the front side of the partition.
I then cleaned up the end cap so the original flange shows.
Interesting the end cap and partition fit together pretty nicely. GOOD! :up:

I cut off the rest of the body at 6" from the front weld.

I buttoned up the seams.
And I closed up the hole in the top.

What I planned next is to cover the hole where the tip was. Then I'll take the plasma cutter and cut out the flat part of the end cap.

Mate you have been busy! i like seeing stuff like this so will you post a video when its done so we can hear it? and whats the length of it now compared to the standard muffler? :up:
