Has anyone ever had the side stand sensor go out and cause the bike to die after a few feet? Like the kick stand is down.

cut thee white wire. Remember to put the side stand up before you ride! I think they only used the sensor for the first year or two

from what I understand, absolutely, yes! Is it one wire?
I also believe there may be a slight performance increase in the lower RMP's in first and maybe second

There are two wires for the switch. Just unbolt the switch, file it in the round filing cabint, and connect the two wires. A yellow female spade connector works good if you don't want to cut your wires.

I highly recommend losing it. They can fail and give you problems. That's why they stopped using them in 'o4.

There's no performance gains from this, but it can save you from being stranded and giving you headaches.

When i first removed the sidestand sensor, i didn't have the wires secured enough, and after 50 feet down the road the bike would quit, then restart till i rode again. It was just the sidestand wiring.
I cut the sensor off after the plug in. then joined the two wires together and sealed them. If i ever want the sensor again, i still have the plug in there. The wires were pretty short but it works.
