Sliders???

They look good, but my concern is the slider on the header side does not look like it sticks out past the header to protect it. Appears that it is just protecting the engine case. If your bike goes down or just even falls over, usually the headers are first to be damaged. I want to minimize that risk.

They are very nice pieces. You can get them special order at T-rex racing.
 
Turbo- How much did they run you?

These were their prototypes and I had to make some adjustments and send them feedback on finalizing their design -so they were free to me.

Also, the RS slider sticks out 1/2" past the header so it won't touch if the bike goes down on a hard surface.
 
I believe you pay for what you get, this is protection for your investment. So why try to find something cheap when your trying to protect something expensive.
 
Wow! Why the long wait? Is the right side (the one on the timing cover) aluminum or plastic?
 
Anrkizm- I still have concerns of the lower portion of the head pipe making contact. Thats a long way for the bike to travel before it stops very quickly. I'm thinking better chances of cracking that forward head with those. Thoughts?

Lokawhaticando- Those look like a quality piece, I am also interested are the pucks plastic or Aluminum? Hopefully aluminum.
 
The one that lookwhaticando wont work on your bike xtreme, you can use the type that turboraven and anrkizm linked.

Lookwhaticandos link is for the old cam cover. It is billet.

Guys...Keep in mind that aluminum isn't the best solution for this. The idea is for the slider material to be "softer" than what it's mounted to so that it protects it. In the case of the axle sliders, aluminum is OK since it's mounted to steel. If the slider material is equal to or greater than the harness of what it's mounted to then the energy from the crash translates more directly to the part that it's mounted to and can damage it even though it may never make contact with the ground etc. The idea is for the less expensive component to take the damage and protect the expensive component. Make sense?
