So I am looking t getting another watch or an engagement gift from BuellChick. But I am stuck on what to get.... Price between $2000-$3000.

I already have a couple nicer watches but would like a dressier watch such as Vintage Breitling, yet I like the larger face watches.

Curious to what anyone else may have for input?

I wear a watch I had custom made for me by a horologist in North Carolina. I specified bezel, dial face, crown, finish, band, movement, so forth and so on, and he assembled it to spec.

Edit: I also have an RGM Pilot Classic watch that I like a lot, but I'm not into bling at all.

I should add that owning a $2-3k watch, in my opinion, is a waste of money if you don't spend every day in a suit and tie.

You can get a beautiful, classic watch for a fraction of that price that is just as accurate, and just as well-designed. When you buy Breitling, RGM, Torneou, IWC, etc, you are paying for a name, not the watch itself.

Look into Hamilton, Tsovet, Xetum, Wilson Watch Works, Prometheus, Christopher Ward, Sinn, and on and on and on and I bet you'll find something elegant, unique, and most importantly, not a waste of your money.

Not 2-3k but its nice and has a big face I have a Vestal Plexi

Also not 2-3k but I have a couple of Nixon 51-30 watches and they are awesome and retail around (in Canada) 599-699. I absolutely love them.

Geeze, just 2-3k? tell her to quit being so cheap. You could only buy about 8 months worth of zombie apocalypse survival rations.

Why so much show? I just don't understand why physical appearance is so important to people. Sure, you want something that you can have that will last the rest of your life. Something that will remind you of her even after she's dead and gone. But a object as pointless as a watch? This isn't the 30's, time keeping devices are on everything. Why not go for a nice bedroom set, a beautiful dining room table, or some other actually useful piece of art.

When I see an expensive watch on someone's wrist, I wonder why that person is so afraid of me. Do they think that wearing something of value that has no purpose other than physical appearance is going to make me think they are cool or something? I know what I don't think, I don't think they are good with their finances and investments, that's for sure.

Sorry to **** in your thread. I'm an *******.

Dave, I think I love you. Even if it was partially directed at me, I'm going to give you a big [up].

Brietlings are awesome, so are omegas although most aren't large by todays standards. check out LUM-TEC not expensive but you can always do what I did and order two to compliment my Tag and Tissot

What about a nice vacation worth 2-3k that you can both enjoy and have the memories forever. Rather than another watch that you already have a few of?

I have a Fossil, its black. Its boss, and I like it. $150 bucks... :D

Watches are a weakness. I dont wear any other real jewelry but like nice watches. I may have cash into material items but I rather spend it on that type of stuff than beer, cigarettes, or other trash. I like quality and don't walk around flaunting my watches I just like having them. Not much different than spending money on a truck, car, motorcycle to make it look better.

But either way I like watches and that is enough for me to need to explain.

As for some of the mentioned watches I have looked at some Hamilton watches and do like one I seen, was about $700, also seen many others I can't remember the names. As for metal, leather, or ceramic I am still I debate about that. I would like a nice ceramic watch as I don't have one, but a classic watch would need to be leather.

Hamilton is an OG American brand. I don't know if it's still the case, but they made some of the best American movements around back in the day.

Wilson Watch Works will put a vintage Hamilton into a modern case of your choosing, if you'd like. I think prices start at $795.

whats a watch?

Check out forums.watchuseek.com

Find what you like and then get it here for half as much!

I like Ball, Doxa, Omega, even some of the higher end Seiko's.

PM me for any other info. I have at any time 12 watches and buy/sell/trade at least one a month.

Respect, Dave_xb12r - everyone has their "thing." Watches are sick...maybe I am just against them because I will never be able to afford one!

Good luck finding a sweet timepiece!

I like to buy a new watch about every 6 months. I uasually get the $5 ones from walmart but this time I went fancy and got a $12 watch from target. I am hard on them, they are lucky to last 6 months. then I just throw them away.
