I started to notice that brakes were spongy. After 700 miles with ebc hh pads. So I bleed the brakes with brand new dot 4 fluids . Brake lever felt nice and strong now. After 10 mins of riding it went back to spongy again. What could it be? I have the ztl2 8 piston brakes.

Could it be that I need to replace the steel brake lines? I did see a small abrasion near the front fender tire rubbing. It rubbed the outter pvc shield of the cable but the steel braids is fine. Do you think this could be the problem?

If filled and bled correctly and no visible signs of fluid leaks or air ingestion........your master cylinder is shot.

Do you think because the outer clear pvc shield has rubbed off that it’s causing the cable to expand the lines a bit?

NO

Not sure what "cable" you're referring to but the XB series has a mono-style braided stainless line from M/C to caliper. Have never seen one leak or swell but if you're concerned about the integrity of an isolated area of that line then simply wipe clean with paper towel...squeeze the area between a few of your fingers...and apply firm brake lever pressure with other hand. If that area is compromised you'll not only see brake fluid weeping out but will be able to feel system pressure. Braided stainless typically never "swell".

Just bled the brakes on my 06 Uly. Front reseviour had ornge jello in it. after some cleanup and lots of trial and error finally go tthem to reverse bleed. For wahtever reason these brakes were a huge PITA to get bled.
