Anyone have pictures of an Ss with a firebolt tail on it? I dont like the S bikes with the firebolt tail due to the fact that the tail looks longer than the wheelbase. I think maybe it just might look right on my SS though but I would like to see some side photos if someone has some please!

It would be very interesting to see that.

By the way is it possible to install the SS (long) tail to S (short) bike? Are they (tails) interchangeable?

Yeah poppinsexz!
Very good thread. Now I got that SS frame and tail have different distances between the mounting points (it is longer and with the different angle) in comparison to S frame and tail [smirk]

Thanks Chris!
And thanks to Jornum1 for the project!

No problem, I got lucky on the find. I'm wanting to put an s rear on my Bolt so the wife can ride it.

Sonder putting the Ss tail on the S should be pretty easy. You would just need to make two spacers for the top mounts. It should mount the same otherwise. Orientating the electrical components will require some creativity too as your harness is probably shorter then the SS, but shouldnt be anything major.
The person I sold my SS tail to when I did the firebolt project did the what you are doing. I wish I could remember his SN, I would tell you to shoot him a pm.

Funny thing is I am gong in the total opposite direction now. I am not converting everything back to a Uly. I can never make up my mind!

I have a complete R tail fir sale if your interested still. I swapped to a S tail so I have this extra sitting around :)

Hi Jornum1,

Nice to receive your message. Thanks for your advice as to installing SS tail to S frame.
However I must confess that I have no BUELL so far. It is not easy to buy a BUELL in Ukraine (country near Russia) since it is two times more expensive than in USA and it is a very rare bike in our country. For example 2006 Firebolt costs 10'000 US Dollars. And this is the only legal (not stolen) bike for all the country. There are for about 5 or 4 stolen bikes for 3'000 USD but I don't want to have fun on somebody's sorrow. Hope to collect that sum (10 k)of money in some short eternity :D
Meanwhile I'll be drooling here all over XBs and asking some stupid questions.

Thanks for the message!

How much lower is the seat height going to a S tail?

Sorry for the Thread jack

I would guess only about an inch, but the biggest difference is the seat width, the S seat is narrower which is what allows for a better footing versus the R seat, if you a bit on the short side.

@Sonderman: Try looking into the used bikes market in Scandinavia or the Baltics, you might get a better price and import it to the Ukraine.

I had never thought about that, but you were right. The tail looks much better on the SS and should be a much easier swap than the normal S tail since the plastic will cover up anything you had to do to cover up the gap between the subframe and the frame.

Thanks a lot for your advice Dogge.

I am affraid I can save only on transportation cost.
The matter is that in case of buying abroad a 3000 $ bike with the 1203cc or 984cc displacement I will have to pay for custom duty clearance and taxes about 3200 $ to have the bike properly imported into Ukraine. As to the transportation cost it will amount about 1000 $ to ship the bike from United states and I do not know if it will be much cheaper to ship it from Scandinavia or the Baltics [smirk]. Maybe for 600 $.

So far I do not have even 6000 $ for the bike. Accordingly even if I save on transportation for about 500 $ it is still not a solution for my problem [smirk].

Hope to have better times in future.

Anyway thank you for your message and advice. I appreciate that.

As I can see you are also new to this forum.:)

Best regards!

Yes I´m quite new to the forum but i´m not new to Buells. Before I had a tuber that I turned into a pro street chopper but the I realized that I missed the fun of driving a Buell so I bought me a XB 12R which is going to get a raised S tail this winter keeping the R front. Also thinking about taking the supertrapp I got on the chopper and putting it on the XB to get a realy good grunt:) Just have to fab some mounting brackets for the chin fairing.

Looking at your pro street chopper I can see that you ARE not new to Buells :). Despite of the fact that I like pure Buell style more than choppers your project is Really great job [up]!
Good idea to have your Firebolt modded with the S tail. I like S tail more than 'bolt tail as well. However I am not a big fan to see it raised. Sorry [smirk] it is just my taste and not more. As to the exhaust mod...
O-oh yea-a-ah!!! Buell V-twin sounds fantastic with different aftermarket pipes which are louder than stock one. By the way is it a stock muffler on your XB 12R? Just hard to figure it out on the pic.

Thanks for your reply and best regards!

Hi again

@crxtasy169, Sorry we´ve gone OT in your thread....

It´s a Buell race can on it at the moment but I really like the sound from Supertrapps.

Regarding the lift: I have been inspired by Extremelow´s bike..... He´s got a damn good looking bike!
