be advised i am a new rider and this could simply be a matter of not having enough experience but i find the steeering on my xb9sx to be kind of twitchy...

i found this extremely unnerving at 75mph with gusty winds...

it seems to happen at slow speeds as well.

should i be looking for a steering damper? suspension setting? change in technique?

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Is it stock? Did you get it new? Have you adjusted the suspension to your weight as the owners manual suggests? If you answered all of these with "yes" then give it a week to get used to it and if it still does it you may want to take the bike in to your mechanic.

Ok, well take a week or so to get used to it, I had to and I rode dirtbikes for years (that's probably why for me though). How bad does it "twitch" anyways, mine was just enough to make me go "uhhh...deedahdee...this could be bad" but not enough to do any real harm at normal driving speeds. Oh and I feel you on the 75mph and high winds, we had 58mph winds today, lighting, and hail, but before and after that it was great riding weather.

I would mstart by making sure your susprension is set for your weight and that you have good tires. Mine was scary twitchy when I got it with accompanying headshake but it's much better now after putting new rubber under it.

It is a short wheelbase steeprake bike. I alwsays feel better on the twisties then the interstate.
