I'm in the Military, and unfortunately it is a requirement to plaster a rather large (about 4"x3") registration sticker onto any vehicle I want to bring on post. Anybody out there have any clever fixes to avoid putting the sticker onto the windscreen (which would be the cheapest thing to replace after I get out)?

those clear airplane laggage name tags or lamnate the reg sticker and bolt it on the bike some where like a windscreen bolt, or you can zip tie it to our clutch line or somthin

What branch are you in? I'm currently in the Air Nat'l Guard and the AF did away with the DOD decals. If you need an easy fix I used to buy a magnet sheet and cut it the size of the decal and then placed it on the fork tube. That way you can easily remove it when not on the base so it doesn't get swiped.

Active Duty Army..11B(Infantry)....Those are both great Ideas...now I just need to figure out which one to go with :)

Uscg active duty... i doubt they will let you get away with doing that, the sticker must be permanently attached to your bike, so no one can remove it and use it, its a security issue.

Yeah.... :( The magnet Idea might work if it looks permanently attached. It just sucks to have to mar such a sweet looking bike :)

I was 16 years prior Army myself. Spent most of last year in Northern Iraq. The reg is that the sticker is supposed to be permanently attached but I've seen the magnet used. Just have to be sure it is removed whenever not on base so it doesn't walk away. Best bet is to stick it to a fork tube so you can remove it without trashing your plastic or try and pick up a used windshield to sell with the bike if you ever get rid of it and put it on there.

I stuck mine to a piece of thin clear plastic that was wide enough to span 2 screws on the windshield (not Buell). Never had a problem. Since it required screws to be removed it was just as permanent as it would be stuck to the windshield.

A lot of the Harley guys here on Fort Bragg buy a little chrome plate that mounts on any random bolt. It was designed for the safety sticker, but the DoD sticker fits on it just fine.

I have my rego inside a tube mounted near my licence plate. You can get one at www.bueller.com.au
or make something yourself. Works for me, cops hate it but they cant do anything about it legally :)
