while doing a tire change on my 06' 12r, i stripped one of the front axle pinch bolts. damnit! It was pretty corroded, so I sprayed it down with some WD40 and let it set for a couple hours before I tried it out. Didn't budge. I tried a pair of vice grips, channel locks, everything that i could think of and got no movement.

I think I will try and cut a slot in the bolt with a dremel to get a flat screwdriver in. I have read a couple other threads regarding stripped bolts, just looking for any thoughts or additional info before i proceed.

Thanks in advance.

Sure, slot it or even better, drill a hole in the center (all the way if you can, and as big as you can without hitting the threads) and use a true square EZ out. Sears even has them for $3.
It helps if you tighten the other pinch bolt to take some pressure off it.
Yep, soak it, I love PB Blaster. It's way better than WD40.
I'd heat it too, but be careful where the flame is pointed!

I have a drawer full of bolts like that and each one tells a story;)

use a large star tip hex bit, tap it into the bolt until seated, then use a socket that the tip will fit into and a breaker bar 3/8" drive would be fine to break it loose and remove...I use this method on aircraft hardware and works 99.9% of the time :D

awesome. thanks!! I let you know how it goes..... Hopefully i can get it tonight. I have to work out of town for a couple days then ill be gone for over a week. I just wanna get a couple more rides before it gets too cold!! Your total

Thanks again!!

I had the same problem. I ended up tack welding an Allen wrench in it and then using the box end of a combo wrench to free it up.
