swing arm swap

Hey guys, just a quick question about swingarm fitment. I stripped the drain plug threads on the swingarm and did a temp fix to get me through the season. Well now its winter and I'm going to replace the swingarm because oil is dripping from the drain hole onto my breeze way froor. Will a 2009 xb12r firebolt swingarm fit a 2009 xb9sx lightning?

Couldn't you just drill it out and tap new thread into it with a bigger bolt? Idk all the logistics of it but I believe it has been done before...maybe one of the other forum members have more info.

Most guys use this with a lot of success when they have stripped out the threads on their swingarm.

It should save you a lot of time and effort.

agree with them ^^ but to answer your question- yes, they are the exact same swingarm except color. Be careful if buying off fleabay. They are mis-represented on occasion.

You can also get a Tap and Die set and try to fix the threads with that. All you need to do is find the thread count and how big the hole is and your golden. Might be cheaper and I've done it before too so I know it works.

That is the nice part about the Timesert kit, it includes everything to do exactly that, and keep the factory drain plug.

That's the nice part about a tap and die set, all you need is a drill bit and you can keep the factory drain plug.

I have already gone bigger with it. The swingarm has a little road rash on it anyways so i want it replaced. Thanks for the replies. Does any one happen to know what swingarms will not fit? Year and model? The dealer does not know these answers, for liability purposes and if thats not the case they are not 100% positive about the fitment between years and models and I don't feel like buying the wrong one and try and sell it so I can get the right one.
