Hi, need some advise.
Called up my local Buell dealer today to book my bike inn for its 8000kms service. I inquired about which oil they would be using and they told me that recently they had decided to use full sythetic (Mobil One) from the 8000kms service onwards.
They did say that it was up to me though on which way to go. What would you guys recommend? and if I go Full synthetic, doesn't my bike have to be flushed properly so that they don;t mix and cause premature brake down in the lubrication?

Please help, way out of my area here.
Thanks

what did they use before???
over here they always use full synthetic [confused]

Generic Harley Oil 20W50(non synthetic), they said it's good to run the motor in on that. More abrasive or something like that.

then yea, they have the 'rinse' the engine.

but that ofcourse will cost you more [smirk]

why they didn't use the full syn from the start, i don't understand...

Regular oil is cheaper...that's my best guess. In the US companies always worry about the bottom line and not whats best for the product.

i went syn at 300mi. Mobil 1 15W50 in both holes, my 12 loves it. runs smoother and cooler than the M1 20W50 V-Twin. YMMV.

no 'rinse' is needed, you can go sny at this service no problem. although, properly warming up the bike prior to draining the dino is recommended. drain thoroughly, replace filter, fill with syn and ride.

if it bugs you to have a little dino in there, drain and fill the syn again at an earlier interval. frequent oil changes are nothing but good for an air/oil cooled motor.. .

No problem with the Mobil synthetic. It is fully soluble in petroleum oil. It is never great to mix different oils, or new and old, but the small amount that should be left after changing shouldn't be a big issue. Some of those engine flushes can be really taxing on your seals.

I heard Lucas lets the bike run cooler is that true.Just trying to figure out if it would be better.Getting ready for 10k service
