so i love my xb9, but i want to go faster. ...on the track. and maybe in some canyons as well. ...i dont know what to even start looking at. i love the handling on my bike and i can pass damn near anything else sans a buell rider who knows what he/she is doing, but what bike in capable hands can pass this thing in the twisties and then pull hard to 160+ mph? what is going to get me in more trouble than this bike?

and when do wee find out that the 1190rr is going on sale in north anmerica?

If you want fast and handling go with an 1125, it will handle great and be fast to boot.

Otherwise I would look towards the new BMW if you don't want another Buell in the garage[confused]

It sounded like earlier next year, but I doubt there'll be that many to make them easily obtainable. I wonder how many they're planning on producing.

I'm also hoping to pick up a 2nd bike next fall. Looking at a gsxr750 or a 636, but I'll take whatever happens to be for sale at the time. I do miss that top end rush I used to get on my 600, and even though I'm hoping to keep the XB around forever, I'd like something I don't feel too bad about beat on a little.

I agree with extreme the 1125 is ur ticket. But I am biased I guess because I went from a 9r to a 1125r. What a difference in power! I have seen 160+ several times.

I can assure you, the 1125 will give you the speed you need with the handling. Not only do I ride with red stang and can verify that we have seen 160+ several times, but I also ride with a busa and though he gets me top end, it is a close race to about 4th gear. But I eat him up in the corners.

If you can find an 1125R at a price that makes you happy, it's a good choice. Be sure to read up on the various issues and fixes. You can get any previous generation Japanese 600 for small dollars. Upgrades and fixes are dirt cheap, and easier to accomplish than on an 1125; remember they're not orphans like the 1125s are. If you're really bold, previous gen liter bikes are also relatively inexpensive, but much easier to get yourself in trouble on. If you want exotic, Aprilias are generally really cheap, because resale is the pits. Service, though not available on every corner, is available, as are parts. Handling on the Apes is extraordinary, and unlike the Japanese bikes usually doesn't require suspension upgrades. Just be careful. Any "step up" can bite you in the a**. [up]

you would be happy with any jap bike and unless your a pro never take it to its full potential.

so is a step up going to be the 600 or the liter bike? ...either way i am eyeing hondas rr's. i like the idea of the 1125r, but think i will hold out till they make a street legal 1190r. ive ridden a 600 but only once and not in a canyon or at the track, so i cannot really make a comparison. as far as riding it to its limits, it will be ridden as hard as it can. yamaha offered my little brother a team ride for their practice sessions at willow because he was passing the liter bikes on his sv650 on the big track. he refused, so no sport bikes to play with for me!! but i ride the shit out of my xb. ...over 7500 miles in the last 10 weeks!! woot. 2 sets of tires and over 700 dollars in gas. 1 low side, 2 new suits, a jacket, 2 pairs of boots, and a shoei x-11 and an arai corsair. trying to get in a ride at least an hour a day. mostly in the santa monica mountains. i seem to be obsessed and i cant control it anymore. i havent been able to make track days as of yet, but im signed up for 3 in november. 8 years of riding and now the bug bites me in the ass. . ..whatever

so cbr 600rr, cbr1000rr or yamaha r6 or r1??

a friend of mine bought a 2010 600rr about a month ago awesome bike handled great has abs tons of power.and like i said unless your a pro you will never take it to its performance limit.

Do you have an xb9 or an xb12? a 600rr has more hp than both. If you're looking for a bike to ride the hell out of I'd pick the 600. The only reason a liter bike makes any sense is if you want to ride fast, but don't really feel like working for it. If you wanted a commuter/highway bike a 1000cc japanese bike makes sense so you have some low end left, but the top end on those bikes is just insane. The last 600cc bike(Triumph speed four) I had pulled harder than my xb9 at all rpms, not to mention 1st gear went all the way to 65mph, and the front wheel wouldn't stay on the ground for anything. See if you can test them out before you settle on one. If you haven't ridden one I think you'll be surprised how fast they feel.

I read a book called -taking your street bike to the trac- The one thing I really took from the book is when the author said about 4% of top pro riders can actuall take a 600 to it's fullest potential. I bet a 600 would b more then enough. The power band Is crazy but a 1000 is even more! So I guess u just gotta ask yourself how much is too much?

Oh yea. Obviously I've been thinkin about the same thing for Yrs. now. Someday, someday...

It's very well known that nobody is really going to be able to take a 600 to it's limits, on the street or track. It's likely that most people who own 600/1000s couldn't even take a gs500 to it's limits, but that doesn't mean that a 600s low end is going to be sufficient for every day riding if you don't want to be revving the bike all day. If all you want to do is ride back roads and really push the bike, I'd vote for the 600. I just figured I'd throw the 1000 in there before because if you like cruising at 3-4k rpm and would prefer to put a bike in 3rd gear and just ride miles without shifting, a 1000 bike can be alright. I personally would be too afraid to buy a 1000cc japanese bike. I think I'd be too apprehensive to actually ride it like I'd want to. At the same time, power wheelies in the first 3 gears would be a good time!

ok, so i set up a test ride for next friday in the angeles forest on a 600rr and if i want to test the 1000 i can when i return the 600 untouched :). its another stomping ground for the buell monsters and i love the roads, so it should be a good test ride.

im thinking the 600 will be plenty for at least a year or two.

haha ive decided to keep my crappy car running and buy a new bike every year for the next 4 years instead of paying for a new car! 600 first, then the cr, speed triple, and rsv4 naked. ...ahhh the dreams.

toofst, why havent you taken the plunge?

and how can i adapt the ztl brakes to the 600 hmm....

Why would he refuse? Maybe they were testing him out and would want to hire him as a rider. You bro coulda been rolling in the dough doing something he loves.

because he started getting disrespectful of the machine and over cocky anf he knew it would lead to bad things. ...he made the life saving decision to get off for a few months. he never went back you are right though, he is built for it. 6' and 147lbs could have been gp (not joking) he could/would pass anyone in the mountains usually at double + the posted limit, and ran the expert/pro class at all of his track days despite being on an inferior machine. that 650 was begging for a break by the end of the day.yamaha took notice, and he decided to take up fishing instead. [confused]

Liter bike FTW.... I have a cbr600RR as well, and it doesnt come close to the power of the 1125R, fairly comparable to my old XB9R though.

I owned a 2006 636, great bike. Nice power and good handling. You are probably wondering why I don't still have it? Well a deer apparently didn't like it and stepped in front of me, totalled the bike and screwed me up for a while. Any way if you can find one they are nice. The newer ones have more power and a slipper clutch too.
