Im interested in doing a tail swap on my firebolt. Im not having any luck finding anyone with a lightning to swap with. I have found a guy with a lightning long that wants to do the swap. Now Ive been looking at pics and have found that with a long tail on a regular xb it is no longer than a "R" tail.

With the long tail it would make it more comfortable for 2 up riding, but a regular lighting tail offers more options for the streetfighter look. Im looking for opinions as to what I should do......

From the research Ive done it looks like 2 small spacers are needed for the top subframe bolts and thats it.

Im just looking at swapping tails not swingarms.

Well I think Im doing the long Tail. Im curious how hard it is to chop the chessegrater off. The tail I will get is bone stock and Ive never worked with a lightning tail or it componets.

Ya, cutting the cheesegrater off is cake, just takes some time.

I did mine with a dremel and a file as Jakestolar mentioned.

I am looking for a stock tail that is NOT cut yet, I need one for the winter lol, I got caught in a sprinkle and man... rooster tail of death let me tell you what.

The cheesegrater while not the prettiest thing does help keep the spray off your back. With the cut tail after going thru some water you have a nice spray pattern on your back and helmet.
