Well this winter i decided to take a closer look at my jardine muffler. Well after 6k it is time to repack. I was wondering what others have repacked theirs with and if anyone has gotten more life with a particular brand. Any input would be great.

I need to repack soon I was originally planning on jardine packing but I have heard of people using steel wool and I was going to do some research on this as well

What is and why would you repack a muffler?
Instead of the internals of the stock pipe (see Pic below) - Many aftermarket cans depend on the packing for noise suppression by surrounding a single center pipe with muffler packing (fiberglass, ceramic, etc.). Packing has to be changed out at regular intervals since it "compresses" over time and loses it's effectiveness.

I was looking into the steel wool not sure how it will compare to the glass with the heat and also longevity of it as well.

If you use steel wool I'd say make sure it's stainless steel then. I bought a kit at the local bike shop that was for 4 stroke dirt bikes - I think it was $20 and came with the rivets and all the glass I needed.
