it will work, the kit size is 7/8 but 22mm is damn close as 7/8" is 22.22mm, so it will fit and work[up]

Yep cycle gear also has the multi hex tool for that as well. My bike came with a complete tool kit when I bought it new. And a little blue pouch with the Axle tool & spanner wrench and some extras in it.22mm is what i have been using.Glad you found an affordable alternative.
