Hey guys - i hope sombody can help me with this.

I used ECMspy to reset my TPS on an 06 XB12R. (intermittently the RPMs would hang around 2-2.5K at idle - i was hoping to fix that)

After resetting it, the bike wouldnt hold an idle at all.

The only way i can get it to idle is to back the idle screw to where the TPS is reading 0%. When its set there the bike runs, but when you open the throttle a tiny bit to start from a stop, it just stalls out and dies. it has next to zero power at low revs (used to be able to pull from a stop just by letting out the clutch - no way now). if you rev it up quick itll go, and seems to have ok power once your moving, but its definitely not running right.

turning the idle screw to its absolute maximum yeilds a tps reading of 5.5, but the bike wont idle at all.

im totally stuck.

I dug thru the service manual some, and realized i missed a crucial step. its in the video - and i had watched it beforehand, but i must have just missed it.

i didn't snap the throttle off a few times after zeroing the idle screw before doing the reset.

no wonder the thing was all wacked out - it must of been offset by a significant amount if the plate wasnt all the way shut.

it all makes sense now - just had to step away for a minute and go thru it all in my head.

thanks!

sounds like you have it now son. the steps in correct sequence are:
run ecm-spy
go to "reset tps" tab. click on same
have motor warm and back off adjusting screw till you see 0 on tps reading
then back off screw additional 2 turns or so.
blip throttle several times to seat throttle body air valve plate
click "reset tps"
now turn screw in/clockwise until you see a reading of 5.1-5.5. i prefer 5.1
start bike, let it idle and generate heat, fine tune idle with screw to approx. 1000rpm.
that should do it

i can't even get the ecmspy driver to install and communicate [mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad][mad]

glad you got is sorted out though! [up]

the top left there is an "online" button. make sure thats on.
after you reset the TPS (at least on mine) it goes off and you need to click it to reconnect.

whats the issue your having with the driver? it was pretty easy for me and i did it in vmware.

I just couldn't get it to communicate. It's been months now and my bike is torn down for powder coat so It'll be a couple weeks before I get back at it. Squidbuellie saw this and sent me some stuff to try.

I think the issue for me was a firewall or administrative options on a company laptop I was using. I'll reinstall and try it again in a couple weeks.
