TPS reset issues

For a little history. (03 xb9r with full race kit) Before having my tps resest with ecmspy my bike had no hesitation in any gear, no stutter just a little surging in like second gear. I also notice my top end accel was lacking more then normal. The bike was due for a TPS reset so I had one done. Unfortunaly its worse then before the reset. Had to try the reset twice yesterday with still no improvement over the first reset

Accelaration is great now in the topend but...... Surging is worse off throttle, kind of annoying. Worse then before the reset today. RPM spike up and down from like 1100-1500 while idleing.Bike never spiked before reset. then when turned off turned back on it idles around 1000 - 1200. oh and now popping in Decel more then normal

Ive riden 60 mile with no improvement. I was hoping the Ecm would have learned the new values and cleared up.

any help would be greatful

yeah, I was thinking the same thing. But we did two yesterday with no improvement. I guess we could try again. What reset method are you doing?

the one outlined in ecmspy tuning guide v 2.0. My tps is set at 5.9 degrees as this is what it took to get a steady ~1050 idle. As long as its between 5.2-5.9 you should be fine.

It does sound like your percent or degrees are off. Make sure you back the adjustment cable all the way out, not just down to zero. I have found if I just stop at or a bit past zero I don't have enough cable to get to the minimum 5.1 degrees let alone 5.9.

Mine was doing the same thing as yours so I had to do reset # 3. Once done I was able to get the idle right and after a 30 mile ride she started running good. Now she idles right at 1050 all ways. Having said that I need to remap it soon since with the filter and pipe I've lost a lot of low to mid range torque.

I recently bought ECMSPY and the cable. I went to reset my tps, went through all the steps and my idle was rough still. I hit a button "TPS Reset" and i unknowingly set my tps on the computer back to 0. My problem is my idle adjustment is way out of wack now and my TPS reading on ECMSPY is way off, resulting the bike not starting.

Is there anyway I can put both the idle adjustment on the bike and in ECMSPY back to what it originally was?

On the idle adjustment screw connected to the throttle body, I have no idea how far in/out the screw should even be now :/

Im not sure whether or not the bike isnt starting because of the adjustment screw or if I goofed something up on ECMSPY

I'd appreciate any help, thanks-- Jason

Take off the scoop,(GOT TO DO THIS IMO) cut the zip tie and hold the cable as strait as possible. Back out to zero, reset and back cable out all the way. Then set tps percent and avf or whatever ot is... Start bike and adjust idle.

OK another question, i still cant not figure out my issues. SURGING horrible! when nuetral and I hold the RPMs at 3k the rpms flucuate between 2k and 3k. What can cause this. his is probably why I feel the surging. I ve checked plugs, new wires, the intake boot around the throttle. No surging before 1st reset. IM really confused.

Anyone?????????. Does anyone Have the race ecm fuel and timing maps. we never backed up my ecm so I need to see if i can dial in my ecm.

if it is a faulty TPS reset , then here is how to fix it .... also you can reset the afv too,

The TPS is the essence of this tuning.
If the TPS value is incorrect, the ECM will provide the amount of fuel required for the wrong throttle setting and hence poor running will occur. A worse scenario is if you tune the bike with an incorrect TPS value, then any future correction to TPS will result in incorrect fuel maps

hopes this will help you or someone in the future

easy fix.

the only and best way to correct it(in a situation like where you reset it at the wrong postion) and reset your TPS to where it should be is to look at the TPS screw on the throttle body itself and back it off(back it off all the way where it almost unscrews all the way, if you have just to make sure) where the screw is not touching at all.it is the screw under both of the throttle cables on the front of the throttle body.(you will need to remove all off the airbox upper & lower) then twist your throttle several times and release it each time to make sure the butterfly valve is COMPLETLY CLOSED and then hold the throttle closed with light clockwise pressure on the throttle grip., and then press reset TPS (note the values on degrees & percent should both read ZERO RIGHT NOW,.)after you press reset TPS wait for it to say (onthe bottom of the ECMSPY window) tps reset comlpete or done. now turn the idle adjuster again until it reads 5.2 to 5.6 degrees . then you can start it up an let it warm up to 160C(320F) and then adjust the IDLE TO 1050 to 1150 RPM. that is all there is to it . and then you can do any tuning from there if want. hope that helps. please remember if the TPS is off then it effect everything else.

Im still having issues..... arghhhhhhh. I just replaced the O2 sensor. I test rode it after the install rode great for a few miles then had back firing and surging. So I thought to do a AFV reset. The RPM droped from 1050 to 600 and stalled. Weird. So I did another TPS reset and back to issue from before. Also The O2 that was replaced was White.

have you slowly opened the throttle while watching the % and voltage values of the tps in ecmspy. are they corresponding with what you're doing on the throttle? Hold steady when you do? haven,t heard of too many others with a bad tps, but mine was and that's how i figured out what it was. went bad all at once, with some of the issues you're describing (stalling ,surging, and backfiring).
