Anyone thinking about doing any of the Trans America Trail. Just read about in the last couple days and thinking about doing a good chunk of it late summer.
checked out their site. That looks ao sweet and pics look awesome. I think I'm adding that to my list of must tries. Only prob, is my drz 400 has been beat nearly to death. I'd be kinda nervous about taking it that far.
I am planning on doing 7 or 8 days of it in June. A buddy and I did a couple of days of it in TN/MS last summer but I had some tire issues. I think that has been resolved. We are picking up where we left off in MS and hoping to get to CO.
dwitbond, what were your tire issues and what did you do to solve them. I am doing TAT from Arkansas to NM and from there the Shadow of the Rockies trail down to Ruidoso to meet my dad for some riding.
I had the dunlops on the the roads, gravel, etc., just shredded the rear tire. I am experimenting with a bridgestone on the rear now. Its not the same size tire that comes on a Uly - there aren't any out there that size with an aggressive tread. We didn't start at Jellico and are going to backtrack and do that portion before our long trip. It will only be 1 1/2 or 2 day trip. I will let you know how it works!
Y'all are cordially welcomed to bring your Ulys to play in the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally in April. Specific Ulysses Challenge Cup Category written to honor the Buell Ulysses and riders.
I am heading out to do a good portion of the TAT this Friday (9/3). We plan to ride to Trinidad, CO and will return home (TN) from there. Will post pictures later!
