I am installing the new tranny in my 03 XB9R and I have the service manual and something doesn't make sense. The manual shows an exploded diagram of both the mainshaft and the countershaft assemblies and if you count the gears it shows 4 on each. Both my mainshaft and countershaft have 5 gears on them not including the gear on the spline that is already pressed into the left side of the engine case. What am I missing here?

There are alot of pictures and exploded diagrams in the service manual. Some show all of the gears on the countershaft. Regarding the mainshaft some pics show 4 gears, some show 5. I haven't found an exploded view of the mainshaft showing all the gears with all the spacers, split bearings etc..
I guess I will have to do more studying of this service manual.
