Has any other Buell rider (Lightning, Firebolt, Cyclone, etc...) experienced the Ulysses owner/rider snob factor...?

i have met about 8 Buell Ulysses riders in New Zealand and they all seem to look down on other Buell riders... none of them seem to be interested in mingling with other Buellers and or joining any Buell groups...

it feels a bit like the BMW crew... BMW owners (car or bike) seem to think they are better than everyone else... worst of all are the BMW GS or Adventure Motorcycle group...

has anyone else experienced this???

Alot of Uly riders i've met or know are current and former BMW riders. When I had my BMW I got a different vibe from that crowd as opposed to the Buellers.

I met Dragonslayer at last Buell homecoming a real stand up guy and not snooty at all and of the 20 or 30 Uly riders i have met in the last year none have come off like that. i.m.o.

really... must just be our poncy New Zealand Uly riders, its really annoying...

im sure most of them are on badweb anyway...

i ride a Uly - coming from sport bikes and street fighters to twins. i love the bike, even here in South Africa the BMW fraternity is exactly the same - a few of my friends have GSes and we go riding, the oncoming GSes will greet them, but not me!

on a long distance trip few weeks back there were loads of BMs on the road - they all greeted me and i silently laughed in my sleeve - they probably all thought it was a GS!!! :D

best part: at one shop a guy started chatting about the cold weather, how we should get thermal suits, how he did the Roof of Africa on his GS, rode on black ice and then the killer - "you must just buy a GS with the panniers on". i simply replied: "i ride a Buell Ulysses". :D:D

HATE BMs, HATE super bike riders who think they are better than anybody else, hate irresponsible bikers.

I don't get it, and I never will..

The need of any kind of motorcyclist looking to snub another motorcyclist on the basis of what he chooses to ride, I can understand if you run into a dick (on any brand) sure be a dick, but be a dick because they were, not because they choose to ride something else..

I've ridden Dirt Bikes all my life, both track and trail, I've ridden Harley's most of my life, Now the Buell.

I've always been open to riding with ANYONE else who wanted to ride. I wave to most people I see, when I can let bars go, I just like the fact that there are soo many different brands and so many different models that you're bound to find the one you like.

my .02

I don't hate any kind of bikes.. I hate ********, no matter what they're on or in...

maybe my choice of wording is wrong - i just hate the general GS riders - most of them are mid-aged guys with too much money and buy everything right down to the BM undies... i have no pains with any motorcyclist, just really irritates me when there are irresponsible riders or the snobby attitudes. just ride and share the passion we other people get to indulge in, but can't (whether financially or by choice - of their wives :D )

i'm just so excited if i spot another Buell rider in Cape Town area - there are so little of them!

My post wasn't aimed at you Wally.. I guess it's just a pet peeve of mine..
I know what you are saying though, the Harley world is chock full of those types as well.
I just look at em and laugh a little to myself. If they wanna think they're badass cuz what they wear thats fine. I'm in the game because I enjoy riding. And I ride the brands and models I like to ride no matter who make it..
Just wish there were more people that think like I do.. Well, maybe that wouldn't be such a good thing either.. :)

Hehe! I met a guy who rides an old knucklehead who was talking smack about OTHER Harley riders! How the Evo wasn't a Harley motor and blah, balh, blah. Cracked me up! I like to wave to just about everyone, The only two wheels I snub are the scooters, albeit they never wave, and the one time I got a wave from one, I waved back. I like all types of bikes. One that I had a recent obsession with was an old German built bike called a Victoria. Look very classic and for some reason really caught my attention, but hell....people in Germany even have a hard time finding em, so I don't expect a barn find anytime soon! Did I get a bit off topic? Sorry. Oh well....

I only met 1 Uly guy and he's cool. He rides with us and meets up at our local monthly American sport bike night most months.

I wave to anything on 2 wheels when I ride the Harley or Buell except those goofy scooters that I always see older people on. You know the ones where they are wearing shorts and their feet are on the floor in front of them.

everyone on a buell i have met has been great. the harley riders pretty much are fucktards; and keep in mind i have been a harley rider my entire life. i have had a 65 panhead, a 96 springer, a 1200 sportster, a 99 softtail custom, a firebolt, a blast (got it for the 2nd wife to learn how to ride), a 98 fatboy, and now a xb12s.
point of it is i owned more bikes than most of these shitbirds have touched, and the vast majority of them couldnt change their oil if their life depended on it; let alone point at different parts and tell you what it is. they wont even stop to help a person on the side of the road. but they sure can buy shirts, drink beer, and wear leather. having been a biker my entire life, i couldnt take it anymore and couldn't stand to be associated with these morons any longer.
so i sold the fatboy. bought a lightning. couldnt be happier (o.k.....maybe a little happier if buells were still in production- but dont get me started on that).
snobs are idiots. life is too short to run around acting like that. **** the bozos.

Me too myronman, [up]
I've owned 8 Harleys, and have forgotten more about H-D than most of the bad boy wannabes will ever know. I have friends who ride Harleys (the kind who don't care what you ride, just as long as you ride) and they know I don't like the Harley Motor company. Most of them feel the same way. One of 'em was lookin' at my Ulysses and said "the dumbest thing Harley ever did was stabbing Buell in the back".

Don't know any Uly riders (I'd like one if at 5'7" I could reach the ground) but around here the BMW riders are mostly dicks. I say mostly because I know two who own the 750's that are great guys. One friend would ride in their little rich man clique and not a one could do any of their own work. My friend changed his clutch numerous times with out even a service manual. They all snorted "We just bring ours to the dealer"

but around here the BMW riders are mostly dicks

I had a Buell ,went to BMW then came back to Buell because I didn't like the "snobiness " of the bimmer riders and dealers. Most of those guys compete to see who has the brightest osha yellow/orange riding jackets while standing around the dealership drinking coffee anyway.

I ride both and I'm no snob ;P
