My local Wally World has Mobil-1 V-Twin for like 8 bucks a quart. Most Advance Auto stores are selling this stuff for like over 10 bucks a quart. Has anyone else ran across this deal?

I usually buy my mobil 1 their also, $26 for 5qt jug, I did see that they have Valvoline synthetic for $21ish, just last week. I did the Oil Change in the truck.

Wow, that is a deal. Question: I think I might go with royal purple for my 1st oil change here soon on my 09 XB12Ss, is there a specific type of royal purple to get that will work in both engine and primary? Or is the standard 20w50 royal purple all I need for both? Pep boys had it today for 7.89/quart. Thanks for the help in advance.....

You probabaly need to get the Royal Purple Max Cycle 20w50. Before you go to full synthetic, is your break-in period finished yet?

Break-in is done. Will the standard 20w50 royal purple work for both primary and engine?

I run with the Royal Purple Max Cycle 20W50 in both my primary and engine. As far as the using Standard RP, the Max Cycle is specifically for motorcycle engines.

Auto Parts stores won't stock the Max Cycle, but they can special order it for you. O'Reilly's was the cheapest for me.

is there any issue with changing from harley non-synthetic to royal purple synthetic than back again to harley non-synthetic?

You don't think so? everywhere i look/check/talk people are always saying once you go synthetic not to go backwards...never did really ask why, but i figured because of the difference in wear. But in the vehicles i've gone syn with I never wanted to go back anyway, so was always a non-issue.

Same here, I have always heard that you should never go back to regular after you go with synthetic, not exactly sure why though.

thanks steven. looks like its not an issue. i was running royal purple and the hd mechanics changed all the fluids back to non synthetic. The mechanics said their is no problem. "except when you continually switch back and forth between the two over an extended period of time"
