Hi all. I signed up awhile back and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently not a Buell owner YET, but I am actively in the market for a 2009 1125CR. A little background about myself.. Been riding most my life, mostly cruisers though. I currently own a Victory Hammer, which I do most the work on myself. She's a great straight line bike, but with a 250 rear tire, not the most nimble on the twisties.

I'm looking for a second bike for short rides around town and some fun rides around the mountains, just a matter of finding a decent used 1125CR for the right price (I prefer the performance of the Rotax engine). I hope to gather as much info as I can re: recalls/known problems/etc. before I purchase.

Happy riding!

P.S. Mods please move if I posted this in the wrong section. I couldn't find an Intro forum.

Welcome man! I hope you find a CR, i've only ridden a CR once, but it wa a sweet ride!!!! Good Luck with the search! I second theoctopus, what part of the country are you in, If your local to any of us, i'm sure we can all help you with the search!

I'm located in Southern California. Well, there's not that many '10 CR's floating around, so I figure '09 is the year to go.

I'm in the Temecula area to be exact. I've seen 2 CR's in the classifieds so far. 1 is in Orange County with 17k miles. The guy posted it on BadWeb, and I believe he got a new stator in at 2500 miles or so. Another is in Moorpark with ~2k miles, but the price is $7k for that one.

There's an 08 1125R on the forum right now that seems to be in good shape with moderate miles. It's located in San Diego. The 08s tend to be the preferred year because they don't have the stator issues that the 09+ models do.

If it were me, I'd be looking for an 08.

Also, when you DO get your bike, come drop by and get it tuned. I run a business called The Tuniversity (you can see my forum sponsorship ad to the right), and am well-reviewed on this forum and others. I'm located in Los Angeles, and cut deals on local tuning. Grab a couple other Buell riders here in SoCal, and I'll do group pricing.

Best of luck on your search!

Thanks, but I'm not looking for an R. I'm looking for a CR for the gearing and the different front. Would look into an R, but I read that to replace the whole front would be about $1k. Will definitely check your business out!

RaYne.. I have a cr.. I have had a 06 xb12s and a 05 xb9r, and a 81 kz1100.. the cr is my favorite bike so far.. I'm only 5 7 and when I ride my dads victory Vegas I feel like a little kid. That was the first bike I ever rode on the street.. I raced atvs and ride dirt bikes every once in awhile.. you will be very pleased with the cr..

I have a question about the Blue Book value for used motorcycles. I see that the KBB value for a 2009 1125 CR is $6,270 with "average mileage", which is about 14k for this year. NadaGuides shows retail at about $6,025. I was just wondering why most of the listings I've seen for this bike are about $1k over Blue Book. Is it since it's being marketed as a "collector" bike now? I know these were going pretty cheap during the fire sale too.

Also, is there a formula to incorporate mileage into the KBB value? Let's say I'm looking at a CR with about 4k miles. How could I figure out the value for this according to the mileage?

Thanks again!

Honestly, I think it is a seller's market for CRs. If you don't want to pay the asking price, somebody else will. These bikes are sought after and somewhat rare.

So, you need to decide if you want a "deal" or a "Buell." [smirk]

But the weird thing is some of these have been for sale for a few months. In my area, I'm seeing posts on Classified sites for the same bike for months. They just keep getting reposted for the same price. Sad thing is there's a few good low mileage ones out of state for great prices, but California has a law where you cannot register an out-of-state vehicle under 7500 miles. Oh well, I'll be patient and wait for a "deal" on a "Buell". The right one will turn up sooner or later. :D

Welcome! I've been to Temecula before...It's beautiful there! Good luck on your search! If I was looking for a cruiser, a Victory would be on the short list! [up]

Look us up as well once you get your CR...Right now, we carry axle sliders for those...Maybe some other offerings in the future... ;)

Cheers!

be patient, its always worked well for me to shoot for the price on a vehicle that all the salesman say "just isnt out there" and eventually i find it. Some poor sap will get divorced or have another kid and have to sell his CR quick u just gotta catch it :D.

Here is mine and is for sale for the right price. Im in South Texas (San Benito)

That's a nice looking bike Texas Road Ranger. I just read on you're other thread that you crashed your R. Sorry to hear, but glad you're ok. I guess you'll be keeping this fine CR for now.

Good news is I'm looking at a couple of CR's in my area this weekend. If all goes well, I'll be a proud new owner.
