What are your guy's opinions on the Victory bikes? My new GF isn't real fond of the Uly. I don't intend on getting rid of it, but would like to find something that is a little bit better for longer trips.

I would prefer something American but absolutely refuse to buy a Harley. That pretty much leaves me with a Victory. I found a 2007 Vegas 8-ball on the local classifieds, 8-ball. It looks like a nice bike, but I don't really know the first thing about them. Are they decent quality? Ride nice? Comfortable for a passenger? (I can tell you right now it would need a sissy bar for my better half to even consider getting on it with me)

They are great bikes. Really good quality, nice looking, and extremely well balanced. They are a bit pricey but so is HD. My brother has one(the giant cruiser/touring one with a radio/windshield) and loves it. I think he said it has a lifetime warranty on the transmission, or 100k mile warranty or something.

Basically really good bikes. Those vegas 8 balls are sharp too.

I have the 2012 highball. I got it because moving on from an XB, another fuel injected V twin would be easier to work on. The bike is solid. With the stock exhaust and intake it was damn smooth in the low rpm's. I went with an aftermarket exhaust because I missed the growl and wanted to be heard in traffic.

The Highball is pretty much a vegas low with apes. My bikes pretty comfortable. The aftermarket scene for vics is limited as of right now. I chose a vic because like you Harley was not getting my money after dealing them for my buell... and the engines have a solid rep. Lots of guys have been riding for 100k miles without a problem (just doing the routine maintenance). A lot of older vic owners seem to be using engine kits to get the 100 ci's up to 106's (stock with the 2011's up). I feel like i have crank for days. Word of caution though, I scrape my pegs like crazy on the low, cuz i'm still used to the lean. The passenger seats have 3 widths. The widest one for touring I think requires the touring rider seat to fit right. The pass pegs are damn expensive (300) and one of the only reason I haven't gotten them yet.

I have been tossing around the idea of getting a Victory Judge. I do love my xb12s, but living in the Midwest isn't good for my chicken strips.

For you technical types, here is a comparison video of Harley versus Victory motors. It is a three part video and really shows the engineering superiority of Victory over Harley.

[up]For victory. I would never buy a new HD. well the only HD I would buy again is a vrod!

Thanks for the input guys, keep the comments coming! Anyone have any thoughts on passengering on the bike? I'm 6', 200#, the GF is 5'4" about 115 (don't tell her I posted that)
