Hello everyone. It pains me to type this but earlier today my xb12ss was hit and run (it was backed into and knocked over). It was parked near Milwaukee and Erie if any of you are familiar with Chicago. I lucked out as a person who lives in the condo building where my gf does saw the while thing happen and even left a note with his number on the bike. The person who hit the bike (she backed into it and knocked it over) lives in her building but is moving out this weekend. Anyways I have her car more and model along with her license plate number. I'll be getting her name tomorrow. I've already filed a police report and have hate full coverage with State Farm since I got the bike in July.

Now onto the help I need. Does anyone have a file, or know where to find buell part numbers and maybe even prices of parts? I ask because I'd like to know how much damage has occurred and what route I'll take (insurance claim or having lady pay me out of pocket). Below is the list of what was damaged. Il post pics tomorrow as I'm headed I bed to be up at 5am. Thanks everyone, ride safe.

Clutch lever
Handlebars
Gas tank/frame (has quarter sized rash and indent from end of clutch lever) it's not punctured nor is it leaking.
Right side foot peg and spring
Kickstand (has rash from being knocked over)
Grips (left one is a bit chewed up from the ground)
Airbox cover (has tiny little knick/scuff from horn button digging into it. It's very very small but it's still there.

Worst part about this is if I would've had frame pucks and sliders I'd prob have no damage at all or very little at best.

That sucks man. Hopefully you get it all worked out. It all sounds fixable though. Idk what kind of money you're looking to spend but this sounds like a good opportunity for some upgrades!

If you had any pictures we could be much more helpful.

Frames cost 1500 from Harely take a minium of 30 days send your old frame wait for the new frame to be vined.
Add anoth 15-20 hours of labor to diassamble reassemble . Likely will be a total you should be able to buy it back.
Fill it and add pucks

Why dont you call a harley dealer? They have the books and can tell you what it will cost to restore the bike, incl labor. This will give you the total.
Sorry about the bike, at least you were not on it

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm going to call Harley today and see wha they say. Thanks for the input so far guys, much appreciated.

Yeah get her to pay for every part damaged, then fill and paint the frame and youll profit a good amount.

Do you guys think they'll total loss it if I claim it based on the pics? The bike ride home fine. I even took my hands off at 70 and no issues at all.

If you want I can give you MrUden's #, he does a ton of part outs and usually has a bit of everything.

What year is it?
The correct way to repair the frame is to replace it which is $$$$.
Defiantly get some pucks in it when u fix it.

December 06 build date. 2007 xb12ss. And yes frame pucks will be a def add on.

While I'm sure your right Loki I will not let them total it. Ill do what it takes to make sure it's still mine and ridden and enjoyed.

Even if they total it, most insurance companies will let you buy the bike back, and you may end up with a salvage title.there is a prcess for that.Try to talk to the insurance adjuster that is on the case.I always tell them to send me the check, and that i am going to fix the vehcle.THey usually just want a qoute from a dealer ship.if theres a lien on the bike the check usually goes in the name of the lien holder and the owner.most lien holders will just sign off on the check. I buy bikes from the insurance auto auction here. There are so many bikes with drive out tags.people buy them then wreck pulling out of dealership. Lot of times theres just cosmetic damage.good luck

Figured I'd update a little. I have an appt to drop it off at Chicago Harley in glenview on Tuesday to get looked at. I do not want to go give it up if they say it's a total loss but I won't lie I've really been tinkering with the idea of a uly if they cut me a check decent enough. I know I can make my own version of a uly hatred on what I have. Trust me I've been thinking about this all day long. I like the idea of the uly and when I'm not traveling with it to remove the bags and all that and enjoy it around Chicago.

On the other hand I've thought fix my ss and buy a tall windscreen and handguns and a tank bag and maybe a better set of bars and boom I have my own little version of it. Maybe even get the x fender and the headlight grille too. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I love my buell and it will be my brand for sure!!

Hey Sky sorry to hear this happened. Shoot me a text at 773-679-8546. Im close by you in Chicago and I'll see if I can help you somehow. Might have some parts I can sell you cheap.

Well Chicago HD just called me. State Farm is fixing the bike. All new parts. It ended up being a $2500 estimate. They're ordering the parts today. Who knows how long it'll take but I'm a happy camper overall.
