So, to help out a friend (our church's rector), I volunteered to do a full service on his Yamaha R6 (2006). He got it last October, rides it hard, but really does nothing to it other than put gas in it.

Oil change - fairly straight forward, but the fairings are a bit annoying. Also, you have to dislodge the shift lever arm as well as undo a few more bits and pieces to get at everything. Not bad.

Chain clean and lube - no issues, but the chain was 'filthy'. And I discovered the chain drive sprocket nut was spinning loose...as in completely loose. Torqued it to spec...done.

Coolant change - same drill - complete right side fairing disassembly, but the rest of it was easy.

Air Filter and Spark plug change - Oh my goodness, what a f(*&'d up way to design that "under gas tank" system. Wow, that was *stupid hard for just getting spark plugs changed.

Just venting....never thought I'd delve so deeply into a non-Buell service manual...ever.

Dude. I totally get it.
I've worked on bikes for a long time, and for all the bitching about an engine rotate...Buells are Flintstones simple and solid as a.... well.. a ... really, really, solid thing!

knowing how kind and considerate you are jay....this all sounds like something you'd volunteer to do for another rider.
having said that, if the "church rector" mentions anything to you about a yamaha "valve adjustment" run for cover and seek out a new place of worship.

Ha!

The garage has two Buells and a Sportster in it. I repeatedly just pointed to the exposed spark plugs and said, "hmmm....."...
