Hi, Anyone who cares to have a meetup, id like to invite-schedule one here in Oregon on July 20th 2013.
Heres the deal. Im putting on a vintage bike show and swap meet at the NW Vintage Car and MC Museum near Salem Oregon, We are part of a larger facility called "Antique Powerland" which features 14 museums on one property right off Interstate 5 near Salem Oregon.
So, more details in a minute, but heres my thinking. At the museum complex, we have among the 50+ clubs affiliated with our museum and event center, a "Orphan Car club" what that means is anyone with a car from a company that no longer exists such as Pontiac, Hudson, Studebaker, etc etc can be in this Orphan car club and they have events specific for that club.
So, since i do promotion for the Car and MC museum I thought I would form a Orphan bike club. Owners of any bike of a manufacturer that is no longer in production can join. Im looking to get a website up at some point later this summer. But since we are having a big bike show and swap meet on July 20th, 2013 Im offering a FREE booth space for any enthusiast club such as BMW, BSA owners, Triumph, Norton, etc etc.. So, while the show itself is specifically 20 years and older im setting aside a display area for Buells. Id like to invite anyone interested to come and attend. Ill have trophys and ribbons for Buell bike category's. Im going to start advertising the Buell aspect of the show shortly, and would be great if i could find some locals who want to co-ordinate rides in the area in conjunction with this event. We have some great roads, scenery and other sights to see here. Id like you guys to attend.
So, show up,. $5 entry/ donation per person, bikes are free to enter in the show. Theres a vintage bike show, categorys are American, Asian, British, European, off road, Race-competition, Scooter/moped and im working on categorys for the Buell show. Theres also a kids art contest with ribbons and awards for several age categorys,. Art supplies are provided on site, and each kid can pick pictures to color or customize. ranging from classic cars and bikes to crazy monster customs. Food vendors, and Swap meet for cars and bikes.
If you have vintage bikes, or know someone who does, please consider bringing them as we want to have over 100 bikes in the vintage show this year.
Have junk? old parts? memorbillia or other stuff suitable for the swap meet? Consider getting a booth, Most booths are $20 with different configurations to suit you. We ask you consider the vintage flavor of the event, but we are flexible with vendors with some modern stuff mixed in, just want to avoid booth after booth of Beanie Babys, Squid Billet geegaws, and Tapout merchandise.
While on site, tour any of the 14 museums on site. Camp sites availible as well as nearby motels and theres a 24 hour truck stop 100 yards from the venue entrance. (resturants also nearby)
There is a Friday setup, and on Saturday July 20th show hours are 8am to 3pm with gates open for vendors at 6am.
Directions is take interstate 5 to exit #263 which is 8 miles south of Woodburn, or 2 miles North of Salem, take exit (#263) and go west approx 1/4 mile. Entrance road is marked with a huge sign, and look for the antique Steam tractor. There will be signs out on Friday and Saturday along the freeway, and at the exit ramps.
Address is 3995 Brooklake road, Salem Oregon, 97303
