Hi, Anyone who cares to have a meetup, id like to invite-schedule one here in Oregon on July 20th 2013.

Heres the deal. Im putting on a vintage bike show and swap meet at the NW Vintage Car and MC Museum near Salem Oregon, We are part of a larger facility called "Antique Powerland" which features 14 museums on one property right off Interstate 5 near Salem Oregon.

So, more details in a minute, but heres my thinking. At the museum complex, we have among the 50+ clubs affiliated with our museum and event center, a "Orphan Car club" what that means is anyone with a car from a company that no longer exists such as Pontiac, Hudson, Studebaker, etc etc can be in this Orphan car club and they have events specific for that club.

So, since i do promotion for the Car and MC museum I thought I would form a Orphan bike club. Owners of any bike of a manufacturer that is no longer in production can join. Im looking to get a website up at some point later this summer. But since we are having a big bike show and swap meet on July 20th, 2013 Im offering a FREE booth space for any enthusiast club such as BMW, BSA owners, Triumph, Norton, etc etc.. So, while the show itself is specifically 20 years and older im setting aside a display area for Buells. Id like to invite anyone interested to come and attend. Ill have trophys and ribbons for Buell bike category's. Im going to start advertising the Buell aspect of the show shortly, and would be great if i could find some locals who want to co-ordinate rides in the area in conjunction with this event. We have some great roads, scenery and other sights to see here. Id like you guys to attend.

So, show up,. $5 entry/ donation per person, bikes are free to enter in the show. Theres a vintage bike show, categorys are American, Asian, British, European, off road, Race-competition, Scooter/moped and im working on categorys for the Buell show. Theres also a kids art contest with ribbons and awards for several age categorys,. Art supplies are provided on site, and each kid can pick pictures to color or customize. ranging from classic cars and bikes to crazy monster customs. Food vendors, and Swap meet for cars and bikes.

If you have vintage bikes, or know someone who does, please consider bringing them as we want to have over 100 bikes in the vintage show this year.

Have junk? old parts? memorbillia or other stuff suitable for the swap meet? Consider getting a booth, Most booths are $20 with different configurations to suit you. We ask you consider the vintage flavor of the event, but we are flexible with vendors with some modern stuff mixed in, just want to avoid booth after booth of Beanie Babys, Squid Billet geegaws, and Tapout merchandise.

While on site, tour any of the 14 museums on site. Camp sites availible as well as nearby motels and theres a 24 hour truck stop 100 yards from the venue entrance. (resturants also nearby)

There is a Friday setup, and on Saturday July 20th show hours are 8am to 3pm with gates open for vendors at 6am.

Directions is take interstate 5 to exit #263 which is 8 miles south of Woodburn, or 2 miles North of Salem, take exit (#263) and go west approx 1/4 mile. Entrance road is marked with a huge sign, and look for the antique Steam tractor. There will be signs out on Friday and Saturday along the freeway, and at the exit ramps.
Address is 3995 Brooklake road, Salem Oregon, 97303

We have a new website going live in the next 2 weeks, the current site is outdated, Ill update the new addy when we go live on the Car and MC museum specific site.

If you would like more info plus pictures and information on the many clubs and museums as well as current events see the parent site for the overall facility.
http://www.antiquePowerland.com Most museums are open every weekend from May until end of Sept and events most every weekend.

Did I mention kids under 12 are free?

PM me for more details and or see our new website shortly. Thanks,

I wanted to give an update, the show is coming in 7 days, and the weather is scheduled to be PERFECT!!!
Goldilocks weather. not too hot, not too cold. So the orphan bike show is ON!!!!

what is an orphan bike? any bike that is no longer being made or the company is out of business. For example, we have an orphan car club show at out museum as well. So any Pontiac, Hudsun, Oldsmobile can be a member.

So that means YOUR bike sparky!!!,,, Buells are an orphan bike. We have GREAT trophys this year plus any bikes in the show get a participant ribbon. To enter your bike in the show Is FREE FREE FREE!!!!... The bike and entry is, YOU pay $5 for entry per person.

So we have a vintage bike show, and the orphan bike show, plus a swap meet. Got junk? bring it!, get a booth, or buy MORE junk!.

Saturday, July 20th, open to the public from 8 am to 3pm, friday setup and 6 am entry for vendors. low cost swap booths, food vendors, and a car show too. 14 museums on site. look around, great fun.

Take interstate 5 to exit #263, Go west 1/4 mile, look for the steam tractor,
just a few miles North of Salem Oregon, address is

kids free, and we have a kids coloring contest with cool motorsports art they can take home and perhaps win a trophy.

We have some young ladies who are also models who will be dressed in 1920s- 1940s pinup outfits, get your picture taken with them or book a modeling session with Gary Shepard photography

I hope to see you folks there. if you want to see the other websites for the other 14 museums,
look up Antique Powerland, theres a home page and links to the many clubs and museums on site.

Was just up there over the July 4th week, I did not see any Buells up there. Definitely would like to see some pictures of them, as I am sure they are there. I fly up there once a year from Dallas Tx to visit my brother and this year we rented some motorcycles, Harley and a Triumph. Hope the show goes well!

Theres a few around, if you rented from Latus, they used to be the dealer who sold them, the took on Triumph after Buell went away. George Latus reallu likes racing so they have a race team with Sportsters and Triumphs.

Missed you when you were here. come again. I have multiple Buells myself

Ive got ads all over Craigslist, flyers out, and banners up on the freeway as of tuesday, ads in the paper,, im hoping we get a good turn out for the orphan show so we can grow that part of the show
:);):p[smirk][smirk][smirk][smirk][smirk][smirk][smirk][smirk]:D:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):D:D:D:D:D:D;););););););):p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

I'll try to make it amigo, have a group ride I have to be part of but if we get back in time I'll show up. Sounds like a great time!

try to get them to go to the event!!!! I have coupons as well ($1 off the 5 dollar admission) :p, we do all kinds of events all year long, the biggest is the great western Steam up machinery festival which is 2 weeks long. but id like to try and grow this event.
Next year we are moving it to mid sept, the weather here is usually good, and much less competition for attention as theres just so much going on in July its hard to compete.
The car guys moved the event to a saturday for this year which i was not happy about[mad], as it ,makes it hard for those in the motorsports trade to attend. But next year its back to a Sunday day event. Id like to have the Buell meet and Orphan bike show be a part of this event each year, so please spread the word for people to come out and support it. thanks for taking the time to read all that. :D

I got in trouble a little, I bought huge banners 10ft by 4ft advertising the event and put them up on the interstate.

technically you arent supposed to do that, but it happens all the time for local events, I was told as long as you arent attching directly to state property (screws, nails etc) they generally look the other way. Dont create a hazard, etc etc,,,

So the State Police got calls about them, Its near the State capitol and that many Govt workers on the freeway everyday, im not surprised some fussbudget called it in. So the State Dept of Transportation took either one down,,or all of them, not sure yet. I gotta go pick them up and apologize, oops.

Event is still on though. So much for my Guerrilla marketing

We had an overall good event, the weather worked out well, we had a decent turn out, and lots of bikes rode in,,
the people who attended i was told enjoyed it, Some of the vendors did really well, some not so good, but thats the way it goes with a swap meet.

had about 40 bikes overall in the vintage show (plus the stuff inside the museum) as far as the great western Buell meet, gonna have to work on that next year, we only had 2 show up, ones a list member (Hope you had a good time, and we appreciate your support) and he was riding a nice XBSCg? the other was a tuber 97 lightning and that guy said his wife has an XB but didnt attend.

Next year we are having the event in September as we have just too many competing events in July, Theres always good weather, and less going on,

we only had one model show up but she did a great job, Miss CJ the model, super hot, handed out trophys, posed for pix, and flirted with all the old guys.. We have pix with her with many of the vehicles and bikes, will work on that this week,

All in all, a lot of work putting these shows on, and happy its over and done with, looking forward to having time to ride and work on projects. thanks for looking :):):):):)

Didn't see this in time, maybe next time. Just got a buell xb12s. I am just up the road in tacoma

aha! Well you are not too far away, i often get up to Seattle-Tacoma area. are you a GI at Lewis-McChord?

Perhaps we can try again, theres a super cool event coming up Mid August. not too far from you.

AMCA (Antique Motorcycle club of America) by the Evergreen chapter. I go every year,& for the last 28 years
:D:D. Its a vintage event, but no reason we cant try and make it a Western Buell meetup ver. 2.0

Swap meet, Bike show, and car cruise in & show, swimming in the pool (Formerly a rock quarry), great food (theres a vintage diner in town, plus most years there is stock car racing at the end of town on Saturday night. plus some drinkin' going on for those who camp overnight.

Non-military. Let me know official date. I will post on another forum and see if anyone is interested.

Its August 16-17th and 18th. see www.evergreenamca.org click on pix of past events, and click on tab for the swap meet and information. Ill be there from very early Saturday till late, I MIGHT stay for the stock car racing at the other end of town,
