I have not been able to follow up on my XB12Ss until now and it has been a few years off. I am hoping the tuning options have improved. Just put a battery and gas in it and put a few hundred awesome miles on it.
I have the tunabuell kit with the Buelltooth and my current tune is a race tune with some modifications made by the guy at Tunabuell, which now seems defunct. As I recall he added some fuel across the tune and my ignition is set fairly retarded (compared to stock) due to the higher compression.
It runs hard without missfire/stumbling and it pulls much harder than stock. It is very rideable and at last look AFRs looked good. The remaining issue is that it randomly quits idling if the idle is set around a normal value. If I set the idle speed high enough to generally eliminate this I get a high idle 2,000 to 2,500ish RPM that
I can "break" with a light clutch release then it idles closer to normal. The slightest change of the idle screw puts it in one of the two states with no sweet spot in the middle. The mechanical behavior of the throttle is normal, the tab sits against the set screw when released and opens and closes normally. TPS resets have no impact, TPS sensor was replaced just in case, no impact.
With Tunabuell defunct, I looked around and found a site called Tuneboy that lists Buell as a supported models, it claims it supports a self tuning feature on some bikes. For the Buell specific listing ( www.tuneboy.com.au/tuneboy-kits ) it lists tune editing and no diagnostics software. I am not sure what it actually does do based on the listing.
It seems that it it replicates where I am with the ECM droid with the ability to edit the map but no diags and I assume no self tune.
Is this where were still at? Is there an option I didn't find that has become available in the last few years? I would love to get this idle cleaned up and optimize the tune.
1275cc cylinders/ pistons
Cometic gasket kit
Crush head porting (7mm valves, 1.900 intake, 1.610 exhaust, conical springs, titanium retainers, 30deg squish band)
605/591 cams (some clearancing was needed for the bearing race but a nice fit)
3/8 hammer pushrods
Throttle body port/match
And I threw in some other bits like new wires, plugs, new oil pump gear, header wrap, and I already have the K&N and carbon muffler.
