Now i am no panic merchant i know in time people will step in and Buells will go on forever but out of interest what if any parts are people buying to keep in back up "just in case"? What parts do you think are most important or hardest to reproduce? What are your thoughts? Tone you are a **** is an invalid thought!! ha ha

I'd get any wear parts that are Buell specific.
We all know you can get a fuel pump anywhere, and you can get things like brake pads and bearings from different vendors.

An extra belt would be a good idea. Pulleys, stock ECM, body parts, forks, wheels, maybe a frame/tank, swingarm… Ya djs2k2 is right. An extra bike is the way to go:rolleyes:

Spare bike it is then! lol the bits i wondered about were engine mounts front and rear, injectors or manifold maybe? and what do you think on any/all of the sensors? i get what you mean though about buell specific thats the main area to cover and not worry about all the easy stuff! i also want a spare rattle and a clunk and maybe a rumble they are buell specific! ha ha :D or were they pre 09? :eagerness:

That brings up an excellent point. All of the sensors, senders, and injectors will be off the shelf units. Not built by Buell. Most all late model fuel injection systems use the same types of senders and sensors with identical ranges.

It would be nice to have the MFG part numbers for them (or an alternative application) all in one place and make it a sticky. That way you aren't looking for a fuel injector for a 10 year old obscure (sorry:black_eyed:) bike, you just need Bosch part #3352sc. Even Pep Boys can help you then! I bet the "Buell manufactured proprietary parts list" is actually pretty short.

The same would apply to whats in the engine and primary case as well, Erik didn't engineer a specific Buell built parts in there either except the cylinder heads (that I know of).

As an aside… the way he built these bikes, I bet almost everything interchanges between the XBS, XBR, 12, and 9.

Brilliant thanks cooter for the insight which is all valid and maybe i am just over estimating the "problem" and ztled they are good suggestions too thanks! so if nothing else then its a belt, clutch and throttle cables and engine mounts on the list so far! The other thing i was wondering is... the headlight modules? those big cast brackets that hold everything on the headstock are they prone to crash damage? they are bloody expensive and not easy to reproduce i would imagine? so maybe a used set of those? Thanks for all your input chaps its helping lots!!

Sorry Toan I can't sell you one, I can't even think of a good reason to sell a Buell now that I think about it!
